At first: Surströmming stinks because it is made of fermented fish (herring). The taste is rather salty but after you smelled it you might not like to eat it... :wink:

But to be honest: the smell is much more worse than the taste! :roll:

I'm pretty sure it's surströmning that she eats at Christmas time. I got the idea, though, that it was kinda Swedish tradition?

We eat all sorts of good herring, as well, at Christmas, Easter lunch, etc. :D

You usually eat it with tunnbröd (a thin, soft bread) and almond potatoes, sliced onion and crème fraîche :D

My American friend is crazy about Danish smørrebrød. It seems like when she visits, it's the first thing on her mind. :lol:

Tyler Hamilton who was on the cycling team CSC also said a few years ago that he was crazy about frøsnappere :D
