Well..as I've just learned that Clara is considered one of the "gods" in the world of Theremin and a lot of thm players are looking up to her so I would be very careful droping anything down on her.
Jarre is the newcomer here, so no offence but he's infact the one playing the theremin different.
I'm not at all a hardcore fan of this instrument, but this lady can really make it worth listen to it (a bit longer).

Yes that's how I see it But I still think it's like comparing genres. Clara Rockmores Theremin style is more symphonic, just with a better soundource, while JMJ's way of playing the theremin is more like no other instrument, you could call it experimental which fits better to JMJ's ideas.

I listened to the Saint-Saens "Le Cygne", also the pieces by Mattheson and Wienawski; at first blush, Ms. Rockmore seems to have better pitch control than Jarre does, but again, she is an acclaimed virtuoso of the theremin.

Speaking of early electronic instruments, here's a movement by 20th-century French composer Olivier Messiaen for orchestra and ondes martenot, which often shows up in Messiaen's works, and an instrument upon which his wife, Yvonne Loriod, was an accomplished player:
