ARP 2500 on original Oxygene?

I've seen the ARP 2500 used on stage on the live DVD making some random filtering drones (which does not appear in the studio version), but is the ARP 2500 really used on the original Oxygene. It's not listed on the studio remake album.

The really excellent jarrography do list it as used on Oxygene & R-V. But the Polish site lists only Rendez-Vous.

Any ideas?

The 1997 remastered CD's do list the instruments used for 'Oxygene'. An ARP is listed but only under "ARP" and not "ARP 2500". I think this question have come up before and if I remember correctly, the 2500 was used.

Also, best to remember that the latest release of Oxy does include instruments that were not even made during the albums first outing.
Jarre concerts attended - Destination Docklands 1988 - Paris La Defense 1990 - Europe In Concert 1993 (Manchester & London) - Oxygene Tour 1997 (Birmingham)

"A group of men and woman entered the laboratory one month ago to live in a smell free world. Body odour, sweaty arms pits and smelly feet are to create the energy to survive. A total mystery surrounds this experiment, and it's project code name: B.O and Smell'i "

Jarre didn't own a 2500 when he made Oxygene so it's not very likely used..

Having said that, he also didn't own an Eminent at the time, he borowed it from Dominique AFAIK ;-)

According to that latest english article, he says he bought his modulars when nobody cared about them anymore. He could be talking about the 80's here, as we didn't see him use the Moog 55 and ARP 2500 before the mid-80's. There is a a rare video though of JMJ playing an ARP2500 and a few other old analogues. That clip looks to be from his early days, which means he had the 2500 since long ago or at least borrowed one.
We know for sure that he used the 2600 on the Oxygene album, and that must the ARP mentioned in the sleeve.

The list for JMJ is the same as the original, but Francis and a setup is added including Jupiter-8, which was not made when the original album came out. Francis didn't feature on the original album either.

Maybe he used it to make that bass drone on Oxygene 1.

That could also easily be a 2600 sound.

Yeah I know, that's what I'm currently trying to deduce.
The interesting thing is that nobody else over the past 30 years has done that sound

I thought it was more complex as well but if it could be done on a Minimoog during these new Oxygene performances, it shouldn't be a problem for the 2600.

That's just the thing, the Minimoog version of it on the concets in nowhere near close to the original character of that sound. It's a two layer sound as well. Probably 4 to 5 oscillators.

it was made on 2600... remember also that everything was mixed and EQed with old analog gear and tapes - that gave it more powerful sounding.... Sound shouldnt be problem 4 arp2600

I'm personally believing that the ARP on Oxygene means the 2600 and nothing else.

I'm not a expert on the 2500 sound but some squelchy filter sounds should have appeared...if it was available during the recording sessions...

Also, why the 2500 is refered to in relation to R-V is also a puzzle to me, as it's not listed on the sleeve, where everything else is very detailed per song....

I've heard it's been used for SFX on certain songs.
Then again, I wonder what the 2500 could do in that area what any other synth couldn't? Specially looking at the other gear used, the SFX domain is pretty much covered with a Memorymoog (extensive modulation routing possibilities) and an ARP2600 (at least 4 LFO's of which 3 go high...)

Jarrography is used to check his information in several ways. I have to admit I don't have real information with ARP 2500 to say "yes, it was used on Oxygene".

JM Jarre began Oxygene alone in his home, as some pictures shows on the net. ARP 2500 is a big machine, I don't think he used this synthesizer at home.
Later he meet Michel Geiss, first part of Oxygene was finished (part 1, 2, 3). Michel Geiss involved the project to finish part 4, 5, 6 (it is michel that plays the seagull on ARP 2600) and involved in the final mix of Oxygene.

I don't think that meanwhile they procured an ARP 2500. Michel Geiss rather used occasionnally on Rendez-vous album (one track).

I think the best way to find the answer is asking Jarre himself :P Who can do it?
Sorry for my English...
