Ethnicolor I was written for one person only as bangers n mash wrote... and that person is Charlotte Rampling. You can hear baby sounds of David too (or was that on magnetic fields hmmm.... my memmory get's rusty). In the time jmj composed it there where some troubles between them. The track was ment to bring back memmories and to get them closer again... There are many many symbols used in the track. The sound in the beginning for example is interpetable as crying or pain. I spent a lot of time trying to get the original back of that specific sound. Play it backwards for example and pitch it up a bit (both tempo and pitch)... then listen to it again...it makes you shiver... also play la cage then... I'm not 100% convinced it comes from the la cage recordings (there is always more then we hear) it could also be it's a sample of Charlotte...

Yes, jarre has a habbit of reusing old sounds. Listen to any track and you'll find sounds used before (most of the time). Mostly samples reworked and sometimes complete sounds.

Oh and my mem is getting back (a bit) It's magnetic fields where you can hear David. Listen to the second part of MF1 (calm lots of FX etc). That's made for Charlotte too.

Frédéric Rousseau explained in an interview that he worked with Jarre for the famous scream sound of Ethnicolor.
They used some samples they distored with reversing and pitching.

So Jarre didn't used that scream sound for AOR.
It is just an accompagniement sound for a VCS3 part (more over the sound is too perfect to be dated of 196x).

It's exactly the same
Jarre simply reprogrammed some AOR sounds with his VCS3 patches notes.

I'm not sure that AOR records really exist.

IMO yes, for me it is too beautiful to be true. It's my point of view.

For me, Jarre.net AOR excerpt 5 is an assembly. It couldn't be recorded as is in live for AOR. Scream sound is so clean and perfect in this excerpt.

AOR was performed a few dozen times, so they could have easily recorded it straight from the synths, I don't see what's so unbelievable about that :roll:

I know for sure recordings of AOR exist. If you listen to one of the rarities CD's you can find a small peice of AOR. That was bought from a music station for loads of cash!!!! Really bad in quality if I remember correctly. Yet on jarre.net a peice of the same style was published just a lot brighter and clearer.

There are 3 possibillities:

1) Someone with a Synthi was really creative (no, not me I promise!)

2) It *is* AOR

3) It's a cover of himselve ;)

I believe the recordings of AOR on jarre.net are genuine makeovers. Demo's of the AOR Bleu he did.

Also I know one person who has a CD full of AOR (the real stuff!!!)... I just don't know if it will ever surface.... JMJ is really afraid ppl won't like it and is fearing for his reputation if it ever will come out. Quite some time ago we asked jmj loads of times for it and we almost drove him mad. The result was AOR Bleu on a show with not that many ppl. You could hear sounds used in other albums/singles as well. I think it was more of a tryout for jarre to see how ppl reacted theese days and to satisfy us. If I watch the video when AOR Bleu was performed you can hear ppl talking and making noise. That's a sign for a musician ppl don't like it. I'm afraid AOR is lost forever if jmj got that feeling. The only hope is that it will be released after his death.

I remember someone telling jarre 'AOR bleu does not sound like original AOR' he responded: 'THIS IS AOR' and he explained about the colors used for AOR.. Jikes..... :shock:

I really hope one day to be able to listen to AOR in full and dream away....

Maybe which I'll say is an error but it has a sense :
He released Bourges 4 years after the event on iTunes
It has a lot of success, many guys loved it
He discovered that to release something on iTunes doesn't cost anything
So conclusion : he'll maybe release AOR on iTunes 8)

If it's not the truth, I :arrow: LOL
