3D +2D DVD/CD Limited Edition
DVD = 5.1
CD = 24 Bits / 96 KHZ

says it right on the back of the box. So no need to buy the 2D DVD or the CD version.
well the original master cd recording is 24bits/96khz... the CD itself is "just" 16bit/44Khz, that's the red book cd standard 8)

isn't the first picture showing "interlaced", whereas the second one is showing "progressive"?

well both DVDs (or mpeg2 video files, if you like) are all interlaced video. and can you try with tools like VLC player to de-interlace the video for playing on laptop/pc/mac. but that sadly doesn't solve the problem :(
But its an interesting discussion, because i'm wonder if the live HD recordings are recorded interlaced too :) 1920x1080i... 8)

Does anyone know if the 3D video is suitable to play on 3D TV's? Or is that a completely other format?

Thanks,
Sawyer
as far as I have read so far, yes. But I can be wrong... with "3D TVs", are you referring to the Philips 3Dwow displays and such?
Hi Clubmix!

Indeed I mean the new 3D tv's launched for consumers in 2008: Image

According a collegue I just presented this question, 3D tv's work with another special format, so a "red/blue" format does not work. There is an option though that you can use software to edit a normal video format, which is than fed to the 3D tv and shows an 3D image. However, this software is not able to make the 3D image as good as special recorded video for these tv's...

Who knows he is (about) right?..... :wink:

As far as I'm aware, the concert was specially recorded in the 3dWOW format, but edited to be played on 'normal' equipment. Perhaps it will be released for 3dWOW later on, but I'm pretty sure it was specially recorded for this new type of philips equipment.

Did you already watched this one? There was a funny moment when Jarre explains why there was a written note attached to one of the synths: "for when the brain is not working anymore". Then he raises his eyebrows after this remark. Very funny! :lol:

There is something strange on the story "made in my kitchen"...

Did we know this before?? ... Now after 30 years JMJ talks in every interview of his kitchen..

Is this not a promotion stunt? :)

Noobs.. sigh.. :pwned:

Short answer: No. (it's the exact same frame, if it was interlacing the 2D frame would suffer aswell...)
No! You can't compare these images because they don't came from the same source: one is a normal editing, the other is a stereoscopic anaglyph red/blue trick...
More info about interlace on Wikipedia.
The interlaced videos are a way to obtain a more fluently motion picture especially on cathode ray tubes TV sets. To see interlaced videos properly on LCD/PC screen we need a deinterlacing filter.
These are your pictures with good deinterlacing filters:

On the Oxy-3D matter we can complain about video compression and lack of bitrate but that's another question.

I hope to have explain this well with my bad English! :)

It was known before. I read it on magneticfields.dk a few years ago, so it has probably been known for many years.

I think the inliner notes for Oxygene's 1997 remaster mentioned the kitchen recording.

And if I remember correctly, even Vangelis made a jab at him about that. :P

Edit: No idea about Oxygene's remaster, but Equinoxe's inliner notes state that "Equinoxe was recorded in the same narrow, converted dining-room studio off the Champs-Elysées"

Yes, the 3D edition doesn't have Oxygene new master recording DTS/5.1. So the 2D DVD has that advantage.
Ahhh...probably because the DTS took up so much space....crap, now I will have to get both versions... :P

Wouldn't you, anyway? ... and the Chinese version with a different catalogue number, and the Polish one with a special sticker? :P :punch:

I don't really get why people get those stickered editions, any shop could put one of their own there, doesn't really mean the catalogue number is any different...

Oh well, collectours schmollectours.

@FabiettoCAT

You are wrong...

I know what interlacing is thank you... this is the result when you resize an interlaced mpeg from 720x480 to 720x576... You see.. they had an interlaced video with 480 lines, 240+240.. they transfered it to 576 lines and thus they stretched them.. stretching those 480 lines from to 576... stretching means ofcourse that it's no longer interlaced at all...

If you change the number of horizontal lines you get the crappy result I showed, and besides... on your example it's still very clearly visable...

I see it when I watch it on either TV (CRT) Plasma and even on a beamer (tried it @ work today...)
