I was wondering what mixers were used by the people here, and if you're happy with it.

I've seen the Yamaha MG16/4 which seem interesting for my budget. I was looking for a 22-track Behringer, but for the same price I can have a Yamaha, I thought it was better... I already have enough Behringer gear in my home studio. There are less inputs, but I could use a patchmix since I don't think I'd use more than 16 inputs at the same time.

Spirit Folio F1 : a while ago.

Yamaha AW16G hd recorder (also a while ago) which has faders & mixer.

Of course I was asking to the people who were using different hardware instruments simultaneously :wink: If I could do without a mixer, I'd be happy!

My main Mixer is a Behringer MX3282A i have 2 of these gives a total of 64 inputs AND 16 Busses

I also use the Digital Mixers on my Akai DPS16(10 In 8 Analog /2 S/PDIF) Korg D16XD(24 ins(16 analog/8 Via ADAT


I'm looking at selling the 2 behringers and investing in a second hand Mackie D8B


My advice on buying a Mixer....even if you don't use 16 inputs at once,buy a Mixer with more ins than you needs cos sooner or later you'll maybe outgrow it as you add more gear...

If you only really use the L/R of your synths,you'd probaby end up with more inputs than you do need ,but you could also route some of the individual outs of your synths to these so you could process signals seperately..
My current Triton extreme uses 6 inputs on tha main desk,so does my Trinity I have a total of 98 inputs at my disposal i use roughly about 70 or so,i run a lot of synths with extra outs so i can process seperate sounds across several different busses.,which means i can add Modulation/FX whilst keeping tracks seperate and bouncing down to the busses into the Multitracks

No mixer at all, or rather I use the software ones on my sound card (Pulsar 2).

Though I have a friend who is really incredible with electronics, he can build whatever. Now he is building Neve 1073 clones with original parts and everything. I am thinking about letting him build a custom made Neve clone console for me (It will be mucho cheaper than hunting down a classic Neve console. 1073 Preamps cost something like 2500 - 3000 Euro per mono channel, my friend can build them for 700 Euro per mono channel. :wink:

I use a Tascam midistudio644 witch is a 16 track mixer (8 tracks under the sliders, 8 tracks as "duals" under the pots per channel) with a 4 track tape deck included. A bit on the noisy side, but veery nifty in it's possibility's. 4 EQ pots and 2 auxes (with pre and post) on every channel and the 4 track is internally assignable to channels (either main or dual/insert to free up other channels) through a sort of matrix lcd screen witch allows you to save several internal routing setups. Tape section has DBX noise reduction ofcourse and higspeed recording (or normal) and pitch control and can be externally synced. Punch-in, autolocator settings and jog shuttle and more stuff I never use :) . It's not rugged enough to last long on in a life the road I think, it's clearly aimed at the home studio market, but it has a lot to offer if you can figure all it's functions out (intense study of manual) :D
