I had the opportunity to get a TR-707 for the price of €133. That's not expensive on these sides.
Im also looking for a drum machine. I wanted to buy an ER-1 due to the TR-?0? system, but what I also need are the 808 and 909 sounds. Those can be done with the EMX-1, but it is too expensive for the functions I need. It has many functions I don't need.

If your after 808/909 sounds your better of with the ER,The EMX does not create drum sounds in the same way as the ER-1,

the EMX uses PCM samples instead of oscillators,you can create some drum sounds using the Synth parts(1-5) ,but not as much flexibility as the ER-1 sound capabilities..

You can find a lot of the drum sounds on the EMX in the Triton sound banks,apart from aN amp and pitch/level/pan and running them via EFX section you don't have much room for manipulation of the drums like the ER

I'll tell you one thing: you don't get 707/808/909 kicks/snares out of an ER1
BTW, €133 is pretty much for a 707. I bought mine for 120 with memorycard.

Yes that was the problem with the ER-1 and the reason why I have had an eye on the EMX-1.
Gear like TR drummachines doesn't go for sale here very often, and the prices are way too high compared to other countries.

You'll need loads of effects and still it will not be sth like a tr!

I wouldn't pay any more than £90-100 for a mint model MK2

You could buy the MK2 new a few months ago for £99!!!!

There out of production now,but there still not worthy of anything more than a Tonne secondhand!!!


I wouldn't bother buying off Ebay,you get jerks who just bid silly prices for the sheer hell of it(wouldn't suprise if its the seller under an alias just to get the price whacked up)

I bid for a Z1 last year,which was around £300 usual asking price of the Z1(RESERVE WAS AT £175),I went on holiday for a couple of days and come back and the bid was on £750?????then the item was relisted a few months later with the seller saying "relisted due to timewaster and don't bid if you have no intention of paying"

I only really bother with ebay if its a shop,with reputable dealings,thats where I got my Z1 from,offered the guy cash and he gave me a discount off the buy it now price,plus it was only up the road so collecting was no problem,If I'm after anything I tend to surf the SOS ads


Look on the Sound on sound sites ads for an ER-1 ,they do come up for sale often for less than £100

Why can the electribes be so cheap? Here in Denmark, the price is at least that price x2 for the last units in the shops.

Yes I have to buy a new power supply from Korg first. Then I'll see what I can have on eBay. But it's not mine so I really must try to get the most money I can.

Hi,

i recommend the Yamaha RM1X as a "all in one"-Solution. The Synthesizer inside isn´t that good, but it has a lot of drumsamples (808, 909, CRXX, some Mpops-Samples, even the Mp7-Quijada is stored there), which can be routed internally to four different effect Sections and afair they also can be modified through a ADR-Envelope. And the Sequencer is one of the best i´ve ever seen=>16 Tracks (internal or Midi), a sort of TRx0x-ish edit functions (or Step-by-Step), capable of recording knob positions (the 8 knobs can be free-programmed to even send Midi-Contol-Data like Volume, Cutoff, Reso etc), can record in Song mode from -each- -incoming- Midi Channel blahblahblah. It has -tons- of Track edit functions like copy/paste/swap/loop/thin out andandand. Sometimes they go for €150-€200. I -strongly- recommend this thing (or the bigger RS7000).

I also had the MC303, but it is cheesy, mainly because of the two 7-Segment-Displays for editing. And it has one big bug: 1) It cannot route incoming midi signals to an outgoing Synthesizer (only internal, you can only play a external Synth with the MC303s buttons (afair are only 7 channels free for midi) and the Tracks are "hard-wired" to midi Channels). And lack of Polyphony.
