Im trying to find some MP3s of what the Alesis ION can do, but I can't seem to find much on the net other than images. Does anyone know of any MP3s of sounds from this synth, or possibly demo vids of it in action.

Ask Jarrekid, he has one. Apart from it's look, I think it's a very fine synth. Very reasonably priced too. :)

I had a friend who was going to buy one synth choosing between Alesis ION and Oberheim-Viscount OB-12 and asked me. I just downloaded some demo sounds from their website and to me the ION sound appared more convincing. I told him to find some time to try both at the music store for a sort of A/B comparison under his hands.
At the end he purchased the ION and he is very happy with it.

Here are the demo I found then (I don't know if you already listened to them, anyway here they are):

Listening to the ION, this thing sounds just soooooooo sweet.

Im treating myself to a new synth for Christmas, juggling between the Roland SH-201 and the Alessis ION, but so far the ION has that edge.

In fact, the ION is a great machine, it can make very crazy sounds :P
The problem is the lack of polyphony, but it is very easy to use (like the JP8000 :P)

Choose the ION between the SH201 and the ION ;)

Damn, the Andromeda A6 is just a monster (in the good way), the sound can be like you want it to be, a must have if you have the money ;)

The ION is MILES better than the SH201. I've had mine for over a year now, and I still keep finding new quirks and stuff in it. It's great at everything: Pads, basses, leads, warbles, drums, vocoding, EVERYTHING.
I love mine.
So will you.
Buy one before they run out (I've heard rumours of Alesis discontinuing it)

Guys, Im reading some reviews now, and I must say Im liking what I read, and the sound samples really do knock the spots off the SH-201.

That's it, I have made up my mind. Though I can't try one as no music stores near me have one of display, and by what 'Jarrekid' has said that Alesis are going to stop production of this, I will put an order in for one.

P.S - Next year I am (keeping fingers crossed) hoping to get a Moog Voyager as I have always wanted to get a good full analog synth. I know it's pricey, but I think it will be worth it. I have sold my Roland D50 and Korg 01/W last week to finance some newer and better equipment. I want to create my own home studio in the PC room. So come the new year, I will be needing some advice on how to go about it, but as I say, that can wait until the new year.

I have one... I almost sold it a few months ago... what a mistake it would have been!!!

I use it intensively in my arrangements. Especially to do simple synth sounds that I can program very easily, not a lot for crazy electronic sounds. I'm more into 70s rock music.
Main synths: Roland Fantom X6, XP80, Alesis Ion, Korg 01/WFD, Wavestation SR, Oberheim Matrix 1000.

I am having mega problems trying to find one of these synths. Can't track one down anywhere. I have tried about 6 large stores (including online) and non have got any.
