That was a lot of interresting studio pictures. The first pictures looks to be some preparations for Houston, the keyboards are arranged together just like from Houston (and Lyon)

I didn't know he had also an Axis. I only knew about his AX1 and KX5.

Francis Rimbert has used the AXIS during Houston, Lyon and London I don't remember other times, but Francis has also used an AXIS for his own work, so this could be Rimberts.

What about to find out which Sequence was there "programmed"?.Ok, that won´t help for the holes, but maybe which function the programmed dots have.

The Matri Sequencer allows you to visually see and change rapidly the wanted sequence. Like my arp sequencer... in the arp case it's a slider as for the matri an ems-pin. I also dislike knob-featured hardware sequencers like the Korg SQ-10 ...

I know it surely has to do with tase... so above is my taste :D

I have the feeling I'll find out the missing holes as I go along building it.

I already have the feeling the top holes below the LEDs are to define the 'loop'. A sequence needs to have a start (usually 1) and an end... the triggering of multiple sequences is unclear maybe 'start' again or something else that increases the loop points so you can have more sequences 'ready' on the 50 notes max.

As for the triplet and dot (double) with those two combined you can make any lenght you want... so that would be logical for a sequencer.

I think the 2 rows used for some sort of 'high' and 'low' setting is presumably trigger routing one for the VCA the other for 'none' or explicit the filter for example... just ideas no facts though.. :?

I have for many years the idea the GMS250 explicitly was build for the ARP 2600 and/or maybe the VCS3/Synthi...

I also read somewhere it's possible to modulate the frequency of the sequence. That's also possible on the ARP sequencer... maybe a logical choise to put that in too... if not I'll have a great GMS250 lookalike :)

Do you also wanna build this thing? That´s also my plan for years :) . But i have no idea from where to get this fat matrix. The remaining parts are no problem. a Microcon here, chained 8-Bit-shift registers there, maybe a 4067 to read out the Y-Axis, Midi I/O is also no problem. But i´d like to add a MMC for storage and -maybe- a SysEx-Function.

The absolute Hammer would be a sort of LED´s -inside- of -each- hole and a touch-sensitive demultiplex-circuit, which reacts on fingertips on the holes. So you wouldn´t need pins for programming -and- you would be able to use the Matrix as a sort of Display (for Setup properties, for example) instead of a LCD. Learning Ass-Code for the 68000 would be too much for me. I also program under Assembler, but there the M68K would be "oversized".
