Y'know, sometimes I wonder what's all this about the Eminent 310 Unique. Has anyone of you ever had the chance to try an Eminent 2000 Grand Theatre? I had. Not only is it a beauty, but its string ensemble (and that's what it's all about, isn't it) has way more features than that of a 310.
Yes I got offered a GT2000 when i was searching for a 310U,its a later model(produced in the early 80s(I think) and almost twice the size to a 310,I 've also tried out several other Eminent models that had the SE,theres a 1600 and a P240 and theres a couple of B series ones i tried,whilst they may incorporate the 3 phase string system they didn't sound exactly like the 310
The GT2000 has the string ensemble but it doesnt have the same analog Orbitone circuitry like that of the 310,Most Eminents had the SE but they don't sound as sweet as the 310,effectively you could achieve the same results with any Eminent SE equipped organ +Plus Smallstone phaser,which in theory is fine,but its the not the exact instrument model that Jarre used,and I guarantee that unless you have a 310U/Theatre model you won't have the same Lead sounds that Jarreused on
Oxygene/Equinoxe/Oxygene 7-13..
Its not only the SE that Jarre used off the 310,there are other sounds too,so whilst you maybe getting the SE on a GT2000 your not getting all the others,so infact having the exact model is precisely why people hunt for the 310 as opposed for other Eminent substitutes,if you only want the strings then fine,you can replicate all the other Oxygene/Equinoxe lead sounds on a decent Analog/VA
Not sure about others but Part of the Appeal of the 310 for me is that its the exact model Jarre used,you can say whats the appeal of it,but unless you own one you wouldn't quite understand..Its a mediocre mchine for sure,but a Holy grail to the keys player Jarre Fan
