As stated above the Synthi model A (they tought of different models) with no Keyboard Sequencer (KS) is simply a Synthi A or to make it even more intresting... a portabella or putney... (these names predates they 'Synthi' name). There is also a Synthi model E (Educational). A Synthi AKS is nothing more then a Synthi A + Keyboard Sequencer. Then there is also a Synthi HiFly a guitar FX box...really cool looking and I'd really would like to own one. And don't forget the Synthi model P...
The KS can be detached from the lid. They keys are NOT membrames but it's the copper on the printed cirquit board with a plastic blue/black sticker over it. A kind of touch sensitive keyboard. Also... the KS _IS_ touch sensitive. I'd like to describe it as a primitive velocity control. The more finger you put on a key the more CV it gives... It's really rudimental and not really practical to be of any sensible use. I tend to use it in combination with the filter. You need to amplify the signal a lot to be of some use
