Use a System exclusive Data dump....there are plenty of PC shareware programs that allow transmission of sys ex data dumps

the D50 doesnt have a system for reloading the data from ROM so you'll either need a card or do a midi dump

Or you can use this editor for loading D50 patches(in D50 sys ex format)

Hit the "Sounds" link next to the D50 and scroll down the page there are the 4 card sounds sets in Zip format plus the factory set too i think

Thats looks very impressive. Sadly I don't have the right gear yet to do anything as of yet as Im still getting my stuff together, a long way off yet.

Somewhere I have to find a D50 card to restore the sounds back into the synth, but its like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Only one I have found is on ebay and they want £80 for the card. I could buy another D50 for that :cry: .

Well all you need is a Midi interface from your PC!!!You can buy a USB/Midi port for about £30....

Do you not already have one???

You can get the Midisport UNO for around £30

A sys ex loader or D50 editor is freeware so doesnt cost you anything


The only reason to buy a card would be to increase the number of availible patches for the synth at any time,but with the D50 cards you can't overwrite the patches,you can only do it if you write that patch into an Internal memory location,so you dont really gain much anyway.(well nothing you cant download for free)


..Pretty pointless buying a card for £80 for the sake of a factory preset reload when you can download the actual patches for nothing!!!!!!!!!...You can load them into it via the £30 midi interface and still save £50...

I've never understood why people still buy the D50 cards,the patches are availible on the net,and besides you can only use 1 card at a time...

Thanks Equin(oo)xe, I will go ahead and get that Midi Interface you mention. It was on my list, but I never got around to getting one yet.

I visited the music store again, but now asked for offer, and this is what I got:

UM3-x midi-interface &#8364;88 (3 ins /3 outs)
Roland D50 &#8364;350
QLX122-keyboard stand &#8364;110
and 2 pairs of midi cables &#8364;10

Now I''m thinking, should I buy this setup (Jp8000 will follow later)

Forgot the D50 for that price, it costs 200€ max :|
A kybd stand costs 30€ at max.

Not for 2 or 3 keyboards! They are very expensive, but €110 is indeed a bit too much.
