I prefer the blue also....

The original Yamaha AN1X prototype was red instead of the production Blue,(they decided to scrap the red in fear of being dubbed copycats of the Nords)

I like red, so a red An1x should be nice :lol: .The nords are a bit too expensive for me for what you get. :?

I've never understood the appeal of the Nords,I had a Mark 1 when they first came out and there ok,but nothing that blew you away,pretty basic sounds and no fx either,I do like the philosophy though by remaking another version,to improve what they did before and actually naming it Mark 2/mark 3 etc instead of rebadging it with the same synthesis and trying to market it as a completely different synth and a fancy name.

They are a popular synth amongst many producers and most bands tend to have at least one on stage (if they have a keys player)

I quite like the Mark 3 but your right that the prices are very steep considering there is plenty of other choice out there and the Mark 3 has been around for some time now...

Jarre is using this for next album..the text says that lot of patches are packed into programmes, from famous musicians, including JMJ. How could they motivate the Frenchman(JMJ) ? ("Probably with lot of money")

Doubtful that Money would be involved,they more than likely gave him a free SH201,and given his high profile status asking him to submit patches to endorse it will give them a lot of publicity,as well as his own..if Jarres received any endorsement or sponsorship from Roland,it will be apparent when he plays live next

A lot of artists get given new instruments to try out..I know Jarre had the First JP8000 availible in France donated by Roland ,Yet during the Oxygene tour/Moscow the JP8k tags were covered up,so he was not given Franchise or sponsorship endorsements,so they possibly gave him the Instrument to try and nothing more

Look in the sleeve notes of Albums of artists,there's usually a "thanks" to ***** (insert own corporation) which is not a sponsorship franchise

I've been reading the review article of it in Roland's Power on magazine,and from what i make of it,it basically is a JP8000 reincarnated with a few features left out,and an Audio Input built in and of course Software support....

D-Beam obviously does the job where the Ribbon on the JP would..

No mod sequencer...or RPS either

its engine is pretty much the same guts as the JP.same Osc structure(except for Noise being availible on both Osc,JP Key version doesn't have this but rack version does) and filter setup seems almost identical so i would suspect its capable of the same timbre output of the JP series but maybe some not as Phat timbres seeing as it doesn't seem to have a Unison mode from the Front panel detailing(Maybe has more menus to access using the software editor???)

Given the Choice....


I'll keep my JP8K
