Today I got an LP copy of Waiting for Cousteau. I would usually say how happy I am to get something new for my collection, but to be honest I'm a little sad because of the condition the vinyl was in when I played it.


For context, I bought it from the same place that I got my Chronologie LP online, the description said that the vinyl was in excellent condition with very little play, but when it arrived today, I found that wasn't exactly the case.

Turns out it had a kind of big scratch across side A that caused some skipping during Calypso 1 (my favourite track on the album), and it seems to crackle quite a bit when I play it which is unfortunate.

To be fair to the sellers, there were three in stock and the description might have been referring to a different copy, but it seems that my bad luck has struck again and I drew the short straw.

It's a shame because I've wanted to get my hands on Waiting for Cousteau for quite a while now, but I'm pretty bummed out with what I've spent £43 on.

For that money I'd contact the seller and ask for either a partial refund or an option to swap this copy with a better one.

Yeah, I'll try to contact them and see if they'd swap the copy over for another. On the bright side though, side B played just fine and I learned that it was shortened from 46 to 22 minutes! You learn something new every day, lol.

eil.com is very expensive.. you can find much cheap vinyl on discogs.

Good news, my e-mail got through and they said all I need to do is return the vinyl and they'll send me a replacement!

Little update, the replacement arrived at my house yesterday and I just got done play testing it. It sounded fantastic, hopefully going to pick up a Houston/Lyon LP next in the coming months.
