Hello everyone!

After a very long 5 months of being stuck in my editing software, I've finally been able to export and upload my second full concert remaster! This was probably one of the hardest things I've worked on despite it only being what I think the majority of people would consider some pretty basic edits here and there, but trying to balance working on it with my recent exams and whatnot is what made it a lot more difficult for me to get this thing done.

I originally got permission from Jarre Bootlegs Concerts to use their remaster of the concert back in early March, but once I finished everything up I ran into a pretty big problem, I couldn't actually export the full thing because my laptop's disk space was so low and I couldn't delete any files on it since they were all pretty important. I ended up having to get a USB that would let me export the full thing onto it, and it actually took me quite a while to convince my parents to let me buy one, but it was 100% worth the wait!



So what have I actually "remastered" in this video?

Well I've attempted to resolve two of the biggest issues that I've personally had with this concert, the laser harp malfunction during Second Rendez-Vous and the tuning error at the start of Calypso, Pt. 3. I'm pretty happy with how the laser harp fix turned out, but the drums on Calypso, Pt. 3 might be a little strong at the start since I sourced the sound from the Santiago de Compostella concert. (For some reason the concert audio on most uploads was pretty bad, I ended up having to use a really old upload that sounded better than most of the other videos I came across.)

I've also tried to improve on the opening credits of the concert with an EiC inspired intro, as well as cutting down Jarre's entrance significantly and going straight into Chronologie, Pt. 1.

I really hope that you all enjoy this one, I've been meaning to get it out sooner but now with this USB I should hopefully be able to get some longer remasters out more regularly. I'm thinking about maybe trying to do a remaster of Hymn to the Akropolis next, try to fix the very glaring sound issues with that and maybe use audio from other concerts that sound similar to improve the whole "live" experience, but you tell me if that's something you'd be interested in seeing...

Why change what happened with the laser harp?

Again, this is just my humble opinion. When I press play, I would like to enjoy, in good quality, what actually happened that night.

I totally get what you're saying and I understand that my content won't please everyone in the community, but I hope this comment can give you an insight into the way I see things. It's probably going to be a bit lengthy, so be warned!

So the reason I wanted to change the laser harp was down to a few reasons. You see, after I'd made the PDLC remaster I wanted to try and go for something bigger since I thought that just redubbing a whole concert with audio already made by other fans for all of my videos would honestly just be a bit lazy of me, and I really want to contribute something meaningful to the fanbase. With the Monaco concert, it would mean that I'd have to find audio sources from other concerts by myself and manually edit them into the broadcast audio seamlessly to create my own kind of bootleg rather than rely on someone else's hard work.

After a bit of thinking about what to do next, I played with the idea of remastering either the Akropolis or Monaco concerts since I both knew they had some issues with their audio. I'd already seen two remasters by HappyVibes that had this same "dubbing" concept that came out pretty well and I wanted to try it for myself, those being the EiC Seville concert with the audio from the Hong Kong CD, and the Oxygene Katowice '97 concert with audio taken from different Oxygene '97 tour bootlegs.

Eventually I saw that video that "fixes" the Monaco laser harp by Chronologie93 that I credited in the description and decided on applying that concept to the full concert, and to be completely honest I didn't think I was ready to tackle the Akropolis concert at the time since I wanted to try and rework the original audio or use a remastered version of the radio broadcast that would be created by me for that one rather than overdub it with a range of audios.

The remaster was a fun way for me to try and improve my audio and video editing skills while also making something that I thought some people might enjoy, so after a bit of playing around on Audacity and trying different ways to create seamless transitions between the different audios for Second Rendez-Vous and Calypso, Pt. 3 and got something I was happy with, I exported that and turned to editing the video itself to get the majority of the actions synced up, trying to edit it in a way that matched the actual video itself rather than just making plain cuts or loops.

I was actually pretty surprised with how well it turned out and wanted to share it with the rest of the fanbase. My intentions behind making things like this isn't to "replace" the original concert whatsoever and I think it's important that we have them available in their original state, the way I see it is more of a "what if?" concept that can offer a different viewing experience that might scratch some fans' itch to know what the concert might've sounded like that night if those two things didn't go wrong.

I also personally wanted to have the full Monaco concert as an MP3 without any technical errors for my own listening pleasure way before I did anything on my channel, so it was kind of like a personal goal I wanted to fulfill too.

It's like I say on the majority of my posts though, I'm open to feedback or criticism so I know what I can do better in the future, since I really want to make things that people might enjoy.
