S**t. You might be right. I was kinda hoping the collector's box would include EVERYTHING, but yeah, they might be forcing me to get everything (BR for video, CDs for listening, Box as a collectors item...)

I recall not long after the Bratislava concert, the JMJ website was inviting fans to upload images of themselves at the concert. I wonder if a selection of these images will make their way into the release somehow? Perhaps on the sleeve artwork?

A booklet with examples of the concert artwork, the AI images, some technical sketches of the stage design, rehearsal photos and other details (a bit like the CPLT photo book) would be fantastic.

I'd really like a short "making of" or a behind the scenes bonus film as part of the package. I think there's lots to reveal about how this show all came about. The Docklands mini-film and the first part of the official Houston film are the only times this we have seen this sort of film. We need much more of this how it happened type footage.

I also think the main concert film needs a re-edit. The live edit produced for the livestream and TV was pretty good, but there were a few missed opportunities, such as using the drone shot when the low-level fireworks really kicked in during the finale of Stardust. A stage level camera shot, or a shot from the crowd perspective, would connect with the viewer much better, and give a sense of what it was really like to be there. Which was intense and mesmerising.

I can also add that in The Opening they missed the opportunity to focus on the fireworks during the TV broadcast.

Yes, that was also a missed moment in the live edit. There were also times when the UFO Tower (such as during The Opening) had the most brilliant shimmering flashing lighting effects applied but that too got missed, and the transitions from one lighting state to another weren't always picked up on.

he's releasing something he isn't 100% happy about? Brave to admit this. The TV broadcast looked fine imho. Maybe it's the Jean-Paul Jarre moment?

Why doesn't he think the same about concerts from the '80s and '90s? It's high time the old concerts were digitized. The copyright belongs to him now.

At this point, I seriously doubt there will ever be a reissue of the old concerts on DVD or Blu-ray. We truly don't know how the copyright situation stands; we assume that the big concerts involved many people who would claim a share. On the other hand, we have to accept that some VHS tapes don’t have acceptable quality, even if they’re in perfect condition—for example, Houston, which is far too dark. If Jarre is already complaining about the quality of Bratislava (which hasn’t even been released), I don’t want to imagine what he must think about the visuals in Houston or Docklands, with that very 80s-style edit (and in my opinion, horrible) by Mansfield.

Taking the original master tapes (which we don’t even know what condition they’re in) to try to repair and re-edit them is a very expensive process, and we don’t even know if it’s possible. It seems that the only option left is for fans to take the highest-quality VHS tapes, transfer them to digital in the best way possible, and use (expensive) software currently in development to try to enhance them as much as possible—a costly process in terms of electricity, computer hardware, time, and effort. Many Michael Jackson fans have done this, for example.

While dreaming costs nothing, it blows my mind to imagine what boxsets would be like—not only with remastered video but also remastered CDs of those concerts, complete, with extras, rehearsals, etc.

In the end… would it even be profitable for JMJ to do that?

If I am correct in the q&a on facebook Jean Michel said he wasn’t interessed in Atmos mixes of old albums . So I assume he is also not gonna put energy in restoring old VHS tapes for a (Blu Ray) dvd release.

I think the answer would be along the lines of the official sales figures for PSB's 2021 re-release of their 1994 live VHS, but they don't seem to be available online.

(And they haven't followed up on further re-releases after that, for that matter)

The only video that has to be re-released on digital media is the 1989 tour and that has always been problematic since PSB weren't happy with the image quality to begin with.

If I am correct the songs on the single are not included on the regulair blu ray or cd ?
Is there a download code in the box for those songs if you don’t have a player?

Good question. JMJ's post doesn't make that clear, so I guess there won't be a download. But never say never.
