It's the fun of being JMJ right now: he's 76, he doesn't have to care about sales and can do whatever he wants to, including AI and and VR stuff. I'm totally not a fan of that and I do think it's a waste of time, but it's his decision and I leave him be.

He openly admitted it in February during the Instagram Live: he doesn't care if he loses some fans by making albums like Oxymore, because he knows he will gain new fans. Look at Reddit or Discord, there are more and more young people who discover his music on Streaming sites, they don't have nostalgia for the early albums and like the new and the old stuff equally.

While some fans despise Oxymore, others - including me - think the whole project, with Oxyville was brilliant and among the best things he ever did.

He deserves to stand out from the crowd, not get lost as part of it.

At the end, "the others" hand the controls back to JMJ, who plays Rendezvous 4 to close the show. Job done! 😁 That would be perfect, for me!
Chronologie 3? Those times are over, I think. If he can only play one song to millions who never heard of him, he won't play something with a soprano singer, he doesn't want to look like some old fashioned guy right before the young artists play.

I think he should play something that he personally enjoys too, not RV4, maybe Equinoxe 4, Oxygene 8, Stardust, The Time Machine, etc.

Reading some comments here about the recent tracks: I don't understand this. He is 76 years old. 76! How many other 76 year old legends are there who are still active? Who many of them still release new music, new albums, new concepts every year? And how many of them still keep up with the times instead of pandering to nostalgia being stuck in the 70s like Krafterk, making innovative experiments (VR, binaural, 360, AI, etc), taking risks, trying to be fresh even at 76?
At this point, I'm just happy every time he performs. Obviously, we can and should criticise the tracks we don't like, but the constant negtivity and cynical attitude from some people here is ridiculous. Let's see the show first.
Maybe the Chronologie days are over, but I can still dream of a revival! I think Europe in Concert is one of his greatest triumphs and Chrono 3 a lovely highlight on that album.

I love his "old" stuff but I'm a big fan of his current works. Like you, I agree that Oxymore is amazing. I went to see him live in Bratislava and La Rochelle and Azimuth is a brilliant live track. He does keep moving forward, which is great.

I'm not negative, I just like to use the forum to share my likes, dislikes, hopes and dreams 😍

Oh, I absolutely love Chronologie too, I'd love to hear anything from it, I'm just saying that he probably doesn't want to represent himself with a sonc with soprano at a more DJ oriented event, he will most likely play a modern version of a classic hit song or maybe Stardust, The Time Machine.

I was referring to some comments I read here about the recent shows, not you, I know that you are an open-minded JMJ fan and even if you were not, you have substantive opinions, positive or negative. Certain other people just say "Ohhh, those good ol' days were the best, I heard 30 seconds and this is just noise, from Sonic Land to Here For You, all of it is bad" without proper arguments.

Adiescar shared JMJ's post about the Paralympics on Instagram.

I don't think it will be a show of just him playing alone. I hope Adiescar became a permanent member on JMJ's stage. I love how Jarre finds all the young talents who could be his grandchildren and works with them, like Adiescar or Zaho. It's great for both, the young artists are introduced to a larger audience and get more experience, while Jarre keeps young, fresh minds, influences around himself which helps him staying fresh and have new ideas.

Cool, now I just have to find the right TV station that doesn't do much commentary during the ceremony.

I watched the Paralymic opening ceremony at Place de la Concorde on France 2 (or maybe France 3?) and there was almost zero commentary. It was bliss! 😁

Nice!
I noticed that at the same evening BBC2 will broadcast a live concert of Pet Shop Boys, so I'm going to switch between channels every now and then :-D

Closing of the Paralympic Games: behind the scenes of the show with “24 French electro stars”

As Marc Cerrone already had his moment of glory by making the Eiffel Tower dance on July 26, Romain Pissenem was able to give pride of place to Jean-Michel Jarre. It was up to him to open the show and transform the Stade de France into a huge dance floor. From Oxygène to Equinoxe, the master composed a special medley for the occasion.

Who wrote this? First, it's about a dance floor, then, in the next sentence it's Oxygene and Equinoxe....

I hope so. I'm already kind of terrified of any commentators who will spend 20 seconds to look up who Jarre is, the commentators of state Tv in my country never fail to embarrass me.
