I asked on the forum a while back if any other concerts had the three-part structure of Houston and London e.g. Houston (Rural Space, Urban Space, Outer Space) or Docklands (Industrial Revolution, 1960s, 1990s) and I was thinking Paris La Defense would likely have used that, but no mention in the programme.

No 3 "theme" parts per se like Houston and Docklands, but the concert at La Défense was in 2 parts of sorts. After Second Rendez-Vous Jarre mentioned that he would like to dedicate "the next part of the show" "called Calypso" to Cousteau. So the 3 Calypso tracks constitute that "second part".

Also for Europe in Concert tour, I recall JMJ saying after he finished playing all of Chronologie something about moving on now to playing some older pieces - starting with an unplugged version of Equinoxe. So there was the "Chronologie section" and then the "older tracks section" - at least up to the Wembley Stadium concert.

I saw the Manchester show as part of the EIC tour and if I recall rightly, it opened with Chronologie 1 and then Chronologie 2 but then Equinoxe 4 so there was a bit of mixing things up. But yes, there was a sort of 'block' of Chronologie tracks. I think he said something on the mic before Oxygene 4 like "... you'll probably recognise this oldie" I also think that Manchester was the first date when he added Magnetic Fields 2 to the setlist.

I think the regular arrangement of Equinoxe 4 replaced the second section of Chronologie 1 and Magnetic Fields 2 replacing Chronologie 7 from Manchester onwards, with the projections remaining the same (although I think the slideshow was far more rapid for Equinoxe 4 than the second bit of Chronologie 1).

What you're saying makes sense, if the second section of Chronologie 1 was replaced by the regular arrangement of Equinoxe 4 from Manchester onwards. That's why I seem to recall Equinoxe 4 being played early on in the set. And yes, there was no Chronologie 7 in Manchester.

From what I heard, when Chronologie 7 was played during EIC there was a bit of theatre, with JMJ walking up to each member of the band and sort of staring at them silently for a moment or two. Some sort of link back to the concept of him discovering this fantastical make-believe city when he walks on stage with his suitcase and overcoat. Can you confirm this?

The only version of Equinoxe 4 on the Jarremix release is the Deep Mix by Bruno Mylonas & Thierry Leconte. This came out in 1995 and it was definitely not played in Manchester, two years earlier. I can't speak for the other dates at Europe in Concert as I only saw the Manchester show but this would be amazing if it happened. I know the tracks on Jarremix all come from different times and were simply compiled in one place in 1995.

From various audio and video recordings of EiC I noted that for the first three concerts of the tour (Mont St. Michel, Lausanne and Budapest) the full Chronologie album was played with Digisequencer inserted after Chrono 5. Then came Oxygene 4, Rendez-Vous 4, Rendez-Vous 2 and for a second time Chronologie 4. In Budapest Band In The Rain was introduced before Oxygene 4. In Brussels and London Chronologie 7 was indeed mixed into the Deep Mix of Equinoxe 4. From Manchester on the second part of Chronologie 1 was replaced by the original Equinoxe 4 and Chronologie 7 by Magnetic Fields 2.
