Wow! I had no idea JMJ was so frustrated with the Hong Kong show.

"The music, the lasers, the pyrotechnics - all three aspects together make up my show. With the fireworks being banned it virtually destroyed the concept I had spent many weeks devising," Jarre said. "I felt that it was better to resurrect what little we could of the show and go on so as not to disappoint the people of Hong Kong completely."

I didn't realise that there were such problems and issues. I wonder why the "live release" around that time to showcase the new Chronologie tracks was Hong Kong Live and not Europe In Concert Live?

I always thought it odd that a one-off show to commemorate the reopening of a stadium got a whole album while an epic trans-continental tour, the first ever tour of JMJ's career - including landmarks such as Mont St Michel and the Atomium, and big cities like Berlin, Barcelona, Manchester, London and more - got no audio release.

AFAIK, the reason was that after EiC JMJ's production company CICS went bankrupt and to avoid all the money going to the creditors, he released the tour album as a Hong Kong release. But to be honest: that's my speculation.

But funnily enough it did after all, in disguise. It might be called "Hong Kong" but the actual audio (except for "Fishing Junks") content comes from EiC (Barcelona?). Also "Souvenir of China" is from La Defense if I'm not mistaken.
