Another observation: I like the Zoolook(-like) effects in Epica (a bit of "continuity bridging" there) - even though the track itself kind of fizzles out in the last 20 seconds

No sign of the 5.1 and Atmos mixes here though

I'm waiting for my LP which was supposed to arrive today :(
I hope tomorrow...
And for the stereo version as download... Is there one?
I hope so.

Jean-Michel Jarre, the revolutions of sound - Culture Prime

21 okt. 2022 Jean-Michel Jarre, a pioneer of electro music, returns to his beginnings in his latest album, "Oxymore". From electroacoustics to binaural sound to the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (GRM), the composer has constantly used technical innovations to enrich his music.

At the GRM, Jean-Michel Jarre met Pierre Schaeffer and other theorists who conceived of music in a new way, placing the musician's intention and gesture at the centre of their creation. Another important meeting for the future DJ was with the composer Pierre Henry, who was one of the first to spatialise sound.

In "Oxymore", Jean-Michel Jarre uses sounds bequeathed by Pierre Henry, all in 3D spatialized sound. A feat made possible by his collaboration with Hervé Déjardin, head of the audio innovation project at Radio France. With headphones, the listener can listen to the tracks in binaural sound and thus find himself immersed in the sound scene, with sounds spread out all around him.

Yeah. The Electronica 1 LP did have a continuous mix.

The artwork is really nice. It's got pictures of modern instruments made like they were made early last century. It fits the mood of the Oxyville VR city with its retrofuturistic setting.

So are the fades supposed to be there, seeing how it's suddenly something important which I don't recall ever being a thing before?

They aren't supposed to be there. It should be a continuous mix, like it was during the concert. But he added fadeouts so that it's suitable for streaming services (don't end abruptly when listened to on some dumb playlist without the context of the entire album) because god forbid you should have two different versions of the album (one for physical media (potentially another one for vinyl, because side A/B), one for streaming - 'member Electronica 1? I 'member...)

Well, that's heavily based on Pierre Henry's "Psyche Rock"

Or let's go for a mashup

That's unfortunate, and yeah I can get why they shouldn't be there. Good lord, I just jumped out of my chair when Oxymore started. That loud start directly after the fade is... Something!

Oh cool, I'll give these a spin after the album. Looking forward to it! :D

Edit: How was In The Machine not a single?! That tracks great!
