After years not visiting the home of Jarre fans, I am back. Oxymore was good! It was better, it was awesome! I think the best since Oxygene 7-13.

It really is something special.... the final movement is playing through my Sony headphones right now and it's brilliant!

It really is yeah. The binaural version of it is even more brilliant.

I was one of the lucky ones joining the first concert on saturday night live in Paris.
I sat 3 meters in front of the podium and really loved the concert.
I was afraid that it would not be an actual concert since marketing was a bit poor infront of the concert to my humble opinion.
But the performance was really amazing, I think a combination between Amazonia, Zoolook but also the melodi of magnetic fields.
In all it was 1 hour of amazing music of which I hope he will plan an album for it.
I really liked the surround sound expierence, im not a real technician but he had a kind of mixing panel on which he could turn a wheel which allowed the music to go also into a circle around the studio/theatre.

After being a fan for 25+ years I think this was the best performance I saw since 95.
Offcourse my first concert in 1995 at around a 1000 meter acrosse the Seine at the eiffel tower was more spectacular but the whole studio performance as this Oxymore really gave an initmate feeling and I would love to hear more about it in the hopefully near future.

Oh I forgot to tell, everybody got a program leaflet of oxymore which laid at their chair when we came into the studio.

Quirky, imaginative, fun, explorative.

(I listen to a lot of music from many styles from various parts of the world.
And I can say this is brilliant) .

It's also brilliant at your age you are so into latest tech.
You are the only artist musician from your electronica peers that is so into latest tech :
compared to vangelis, tangerine dream, klaus schulze, kitaro, kfratwerk well there's only one original member.


I always have glowing things to say about your music your concerts your career. I nearly always defend you JmJ.


# But to name something dedicated to Pierre Henry after one of your albums is poor taste poor judgement.

It is oxymoronic.

You could easily rearranged letters of Pierre Henry to named it Enierre or Piery or Rehen.


# And you have many amazing accomplishments to your name many amazing music.
So to only keep linking yourself to oxygene is pathetic.
It's as a dog begging to be recognised petted for the one trick it knows.
This also makes people (non fans) think you are just a one trick pony and that you only did oxygene and nothing else.

Yes, I agree totally ..... unless there is a particular reason for the OXY part of the title? That it uses elements of the original Oxygene? And why MORE? I assumed this was a reference to Pierre Henry's work, demonstrating a collaboration? But maybe not? If it's just a case of OXYMORE = MORE OXYGENE then it's really rather weak and a shame JMJ didn't develop a more appropriate title for the work.

I thought the crackling fire is the start of the whole thing, I can't hear the voice on any recording though? Is is really soft in the background or can you clearly hear it?

sorry, you are right...
I just realized that my recording is corrupted by an interfering signal. Curious but I went through my tv box and it seems that another channel was also recording at very low volume.... Strange but it's experimental after all

"Oxymore" is the French word for "Oxymoron". Not more, not less.

JMJ explained the title of the piece "Oxymore" (= French word for "oxymoron" as Oxygene pointed out) in an interview. He said that musique concrète juxtaposes (or opposes) sounds that are not necessarily heard together in nature or in our day-to-day environment, so it's an oxymoron of sounds. By extension (my opinion here) mixing his own sounds (typically from electronic sources) with Henry's sounds (typically processed recordings of natural sounds) is somewhat an oxymoron, and so is mixing different styles: musique concrète with electro, techno, etc. as heard in Oxymore.

In the interview with fans in VR posted on YouTube someone asked him if the name Oxymore (and also Oxyville in the VR town) was a nod to Oxygène. JMJ responded that there was no relation. Only after he came up with the name did he notice the same first 3 letters. And so now there is a "family of Oxys". But no relation. He said there might be a relation between Oxygène and Oxymore, in the sense that when he composed Oxygène he did it freely, without constraints nor pressure, which came later on with success, fame, expectations from the audience, etc. And for Oxymore he also felt very free when he composed it as he started from someone else's sounds around which he built the piece.

Oh, that's interesting. This is a virtual tour through the city with the creators of the world. Sadly, it's in Russian probably, since the ticket sales are in Russian and they mention an English tour for journalists... Too bad, I would like to know more about this world.

A tour of the virtual Oxyville will be led by art director and author of the visual style of the world Pavel Pavlyukov and project director Georgy Molodtsov. As part of the tour, viewers will be able to walk through the whole journey to the music of Jean-Michel Jarre with comments by Pavel and George.

At the same time, a tour in English for foreign journalists and VR specialists will take place in the parallel copy of the world. At the end of the concert there will be an opportunity to join their copy of the world.

I managed to grab a recording from the Radio France player using Audacity software. It was saved as 320kbps MP3 format and with the "stereo" setting on but I have no idea if that setting overwrote the original binauaral transmission. It sounds stereo to me, when I listen thru headphones but I'm no audio expert.
