Same for me, but because I wanted the 5.1 mixes, I've never even touched the cassettes. In defense of vinyl, often it's the best source because there's a physical limit to how loud music can be and they have to keep this in mind. Now a well mastered CD will beat the vinyl, but that's the problem, CD's are barely mastered properly these days. Recently decided to get vinyl rips of the later Enigma albums, those CD's are loud and clipped to death. 'Cross of Change' and 'Le Roi Ist Mort, Vive Le Roi!' were really on that border, but anything after that is way too loud and those vinyl releases fix these issues up wonderfully.

When talking about gramophone records the word "vinyl" doesn'r have a plural with "s", the plural is just "vinyl", however the plural "vinyls" is a valid form, but only when talking about different vinyl-type polymere materials, not records.
