Gone are the times of extended remixes a'la Zoolookologie or Zoolook from the 80s. These days the "remixes" are simply means for a label to promote another artist by slapping a familiar name on their music ("Jarre" in this case) while the music has little or nothing to do with the original track. I wonder how this still qualifies as a "remix" - perhaps it's sufficient to sample a single hi-hat hit.

Some investigation - I shazamed this track and it turns up as "Arteon - Dealing with god".

However, googling "Arteon - dealing with god" produces a link to a facebook video (the link has "aether-arteon-dealing-with-god" in it)

(same account as on youtube - EDM Jelly)

but this facebook video has since been renamed to

"Jean Michel Jarre - If the wind could speak (Tale of Us Remix)"

Not entirely true - Electronica 1 gave us some good mixes. The Jarre mix of Conquistador is probably better than the album version (imho).

I'm not counting those as they were mostly "JMJ remixes". Except those and Javi Grex' remix of "If..!" (which is excellent) the third party remixes are pretty much all sh8 done in the vein that I outlined above.

The album mix is terrible, but that extended remix is pretty sweet!

It’s so exiting unpacking the Record Store Day deliveries and so yet so difficult as want to put so many things aside for myself but can’t 😭 #jeanmicheljarre
They sounded great in the promotional blurb but are even more stunning in the flesh!! Just a week to wait now 😱

Almost half a year after its release and, yeah, IMO this is still the best JMJ album since Oxygene 7-13.

Admittedly, I don't really listen to particular tracks from it (except sometimes the "medley" from Infinity to The Opening) and just go with playing the full album instead.

(I never feel like listening to the entirety of any other post-O7-13 albums, and not even earlier ones like Revolutions or Magnetic Fields for example)

Yet it makes me fret (a bit) what his next album is going to be like, because while Nocturne is a pretty nice Vangelis album (and musically sound), for me it's a letdown after Rosetta (so I guess I consider E-I to be Jarre's Rosetta in a sense).

The first track of the show:

Meh. As expected. Hardly resembling the original. The intro (which contains samples of the original) is a pretty interesting arrangement, somewhat cinematic, but that's it. Then it switches to a completely unrelated piece of music. The intro seems grafted on and forced.

If you can call the original track drowning in fake ARP sounds and faded out with a drum beat pattern a "remix" then...oh well...
