Just listened to it, thanks to Toman.

Very nice., But not very Equinoxe I think.
As other have said a bit Vangelis. A bit Ind Rev Part 2.
Also it reminds me of the Terminator theme a little.

There's no resemblence except "both tracks have arpeggiated synth bass"

No resemblance? I do not know if you are serious. The main melody is the same, some of the arrangements too. :?

Please point me to the exact time indexes in both tracks where the "main melody" is "the same". And those other arrangements that are "the same" as well.

The chord progressions are different too, by the way.

I see it as a tribute to Kebu... I'm not saying that JMJ made a "cover". But when I listen to this song, the theme of "To Jupiter and Back" is obvious. It's like seeing a cow in a hallway.

You should posted this link "To Jupiter and Back" in the facebook thread "leak of 'Flying Totems'" : https://www.facebook.com/groups/jmjfriends/
(Sorry, I can not do it myself I never wanted to create an account on facebook)

You will see how many people think there is no resemblance. ;-)

Kebu is obviously influenced by Jarre, so some of his music inc Jupiter and Back is very Jarre-like, so it a surprise that the new Jarre track sounds a little like Kebu?

It does sound similar but I can hear lot of other sounds as well. At about 2min 17 secs in the lead synth sounds a little John Carpenter-ish to me.

Maybe it's somehow obvious to *you*. I don't know how other people perceive music. Bringing up "a cow in hallway" does not prove anything. There's tons of tracks that sound "similar", because, well, that's "electronic music" and arp synth bass with delay and plucks with delay are its pretty standard elements.

Lol? No, I shouldn't. This is not a "referendum". Whether the "main melody is the same" (as you claim) is not up to the "general public" to decide. Just like you wouldn't ask the general public what the correct answer to "2 + 2 * 2 + 2 * 0 = ?" is, because usually ~90% of them are wrong (even though it's very basic math). It can be however easily proven by e.g. writing down the notes and chords of both.

I feel like I'm reading a 5-year-old kid, pretentious and arrogant.

On this board and after listening "To Jupiter and Back", Toman said that "Flying Totems" is a fake, Jarrehair said "It does sound similar"..

I do not want to prove anything, everyone has their opinion. But if no one listens to "To Jupiter and Back", no one will see any resemblance to it. (0+0 = la tête à toto)

All this reminds me of Soft Cell's recent "Northern Lights" compared to PSB's "One Hit Wonder".

You said "The main melody is the same". That might be an opinion, but the FACT (as in actual notes) is that it is NOT the same. One might as well have an "opinion" that "owls don't exist", even though facts say otherwise.

I am not a musician. I listen to this music with my ears and hear a great similarity on melodies. And I believe that if I hear it, everyone can hear it.

I am not trying to prove that what I am saying is technically, note by note, the truth. Because i know it's not. (If a big yellow car is not a small blue car, so technically it's not the same car, but everyone can see that these are 2 cars.)

If you are a minimum objective you should see that I am not the only one to say that there is similarity on a fundamental part of the piece. (like a "tribute" to Kebu, who often paid tribute to JMJ)
