Of course everyone is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions, but historically speaking, JMJ generally doesn't perform live. Yes, this all changed 2008 onward, but the Sonar show definitely has his return to miming/faking his performance.
Heart of Noise was 100% album perfect, which tells my trained ears that nothing was performed live...including the lead which sounded exactly like the album with no human nuances or deviations from the album version that would indicate a live performance.
Oxygene 8: all one has to do is watch his performance on YouTube. At the beginning of the 2nd verse the lead is playing but poor JMJ is at the wrong keyboard, but once his realizes this, it's too late....the curtain had been lifted.
Oxygene 2: yes, he played the end solo live (and it's always obvious when he plays live
) ; but his performance before that was mimed.
As a musician myself, it's quite obvious; but your thoughts may vary. I know what he's capable of in terms of performing live (2008+ shows) and when he's at his worst (China 2004). Performance wise, Sonar was closer to China 2004...
Hope he improves because I know he's capable of it!
