I think it was a good concert, more for the masses, less for us fans, but that is more than okay, when you do a free concert for a royal couple. It was nice to hear Chronologie 1 and 4 again. Jarre and his band had a quite powerful sound and Jarre really showed himself off well.

The only real problem yesterday was the sound quality of Euronews. Good for those, who followed it on ustream or euronet.net.

fireworks was cool, that's it. Concert overall: disappionted. Always the same........... like 1993/1994. Europe in concert was much better.

Crappy concert, btw. Just like the Santiago Compostelle concert: Crap.

please, if you have any negative emotional problems about jarre, i think you should find another place to express your feelings. The ears of jarre fans are not the best listeners in a case like this.

That sounds more like fanboys! Normal fans can be skeptical and doesn't have to love everything he does.

Anyway it got detuned often, anyother synth could be used / Equinoxe 4 - fine / Industrial Revolution 3 - fine, good choice, keytar solo needs to be improved. Overall, great. On some notes, it could be / could have been improved. E.g. keytar solos of JMJ.

I'm still a fan of Jarre, I've always found his music interesting, I think T&T is the only album he's done that I've not liked, and I think it's great that he still gets the opportunity to do huge lavish concerts despite being a fairly niche musician.

But I am struggling a bit with this current direction;

I'm a nerd, and a synth-nerd at that seeing old gear from the 60's, 70's & 80's being used and hearing the sounds they can make is interesting for me as I can appreciate what's being done. But to the non-nerds and the casual listeners they'll just want to hear his music, see him perform and enjoy the spectacle, for the fans they want that too but also new material, but when it's the same static play-list and everything is going out of tune, timing is off, bum notes etc then it becomes so obtrusive that you (or at least I) cannot enjoy the music. I see loads of live bands and none of them ever have all these problems. I appreciate that other bands won't have that amount of all old analog gear but then that comes back to the nerd thing.

I think maybe he should have the old gear on stage but have the music coming from modern analog synths, VA's or other modern digital equipment where these problems aren't going to happen, if you look at say PLD then most of it was playback but the versions of each track wes new, plus there was new material, there were a few token bits of old equipment on stage and everyone was happy. The original Oxygene 7-13 tour was great and I don't recall anyone moaning about him using VA's for that tour.


Before he embarked on this analog venture in 2008 his music was modern and concerts faultless but we have had 4 years of tortured keytar solos, erratic harps and wandering oscillators and the hardcore fans are left having to struggle to defend it all.

Last night should have been PLD 2.0, a big street party with up-tempo music and loads of fun, instead we had a very impressive stage set and a load of nerd-music that left most of the audience (including the couple the whole thing was for) cold, look how the place lifted when he played Vintage!

I'm sure for the DVD they'll be able to mix footage from the show and the rehearsal, fix all the bugs and it'll look and sound great and if I'd not seen it raw then I'd be able to enjoy it.

But whilst this current venture continues I don't think I'll be showing much interest.

Sorry for my opinion but Jean Michel Jarre is a faker(music) and faker(concerts) in everything. The name Jean Michel Jarre is just a company.

If JMJ is such a fake why are you bothering to watch/listen? If you don't like it move on.

Yes. It was all just a CGI (computer generated image) what a pity.

As for his faults, there's nothing I have to defend - it's a proof that he performed live, less embarassing than the half-playback shows (which I can understand, if you just have one perfomance as at Gdansk or Beijing) we had in the past. It was very lively yesterday and I didn't have the feeling that anyone noticed the mistakes any great deal.

And even with the half playback shows as at La Defense, we had the laser harp misfunctioning - it just got edited out for the official video later.

I'm very happy that since 2008 we get real live perfomances. I'm very happy that he dares to use the old gear. And I cherish the imperfection this sometimes means.

Now that ive had time to think about the concert and sleep on it, it was not as bad as I thought it was last night. my main gripe is with euronews and not Jean Michel. Their coverage was pretty dire sound wise, mono sound, too much audience sound over the tracks (so much that I couldn't even hear the main melody of some songs such as rv4) And the less said about the news interruption the better!

Musically it was ok, the new tracks were a nice addition but I was upset with the solo of industrial revolution pt3, the solo on the album in my opinion is the greatest solo ever on a JMJ song. But other than that it was good. Visually amazing mind you, the best looking concert since Moscow I think.

I don't say they shouldn't but still it's kind of interesting cause probably the microphone placed to record the crowd was placed near the stage on the left from Jarre - just Rimbert's side and somebody is trying to get Francis' attention - at least I imagine it so
but the other point is that same shouting repeats in different parts of the concert which makes me a little doubt about it and think it could be a recording from some earlier concert

but maybe they do shout ASSIS or smh?
