WHAT IS IT MAN???

Websites are offering a free Monotron if you guess what it is. If it was used to make the music in the youtube teaser, then it doesn't seem like anything to be "amazed" by. They've done this type of thing for their workstations in the past. Perhaps they are trying to strike on the Motif with a brand new workstation? Who knows... We'll see. If it is a workstation can we have more than 2GB of sample RAM this time please.... :nod:

Didn’t Jarre use the PE1000 and adn the (big brother) PS3300?


Perhaps the KRONOS will be using the low cost analog MONOTRON boards to get a poly analog??? That wouod be some exciting Korg news. Probably not if they are advertising the KRONOS as something you can make “music” with. I think most major synth manufacturers will leave the analogs to the boutique shops. That MONOTRON is pretty impressive bang for the buck though. I think Korg cornered the market on analog monosynths under $70!

AFAIK, JMJ only used Korg PS series on display for studio pics (Equinoxe era). I'm not sure, but perhaps Rousseau had one in his setup during the China '81 tour.

But let's head back straight ontopic before I'll spoil it... :$

Ah yes... back on topic...

So it makes sense it's Korg's latest workstation that will get swallowed up by the Motif, but what's curious is the realy release by Korg of a $ 70 analog monosynth with a stylus. What purpose does the Monotron serve??? So imagine if Korg releases a workstation but it employs the cheap analog oscs from the Monotron? Instead of the workstation having a VA engine it would have a full analog engine. Possiblities are really open and that would be a game changer. Something Korg hasn't had in a loooong time. I doubt it will be anythign that cool though. Tomorrow is the day!

Depending on price point, this could actually be a game changer. An OASYS for the masses. Of course ifit's 3k for a 61key I'll be $#*@&^ed off because I dropped 8k for an original OASYS. But... if they allow more tha 2GB of sample or let you use the hard drive to store samples for patches (like the under rated Alesis Fusion), add more patch storage and finally implement a better sequencer... well I guess I'll probably buy a "Little O" (aka Kronos).

Wow... the more I think about it... this is kinda a big deal if it's priced right. I street priced OASYS with 12GB of content????? The Big O's updated piano EXs2 was about 1.1GB total. The Little O comes loaded with 4GB worth of piano samples? Wow that's impressive for a hardware synth. Yes... I know it doesn't compare to Ivory... but for a hardware synth, that is impressive.

Erm.... Not exactly. It has a ssd for samples, looks like that's tied to the sample engine; plus full DAW integration (amongst other added features). Those were 2 of the OASYS major flaws. Comes down to price point. If they make this comparable to Fantoms and Motif... This is a huge bang for ur buck. Play around with just Mod 7 and you'd be pretty impressed. If you've played an OASYS for a lenth of time, you know how ridiculously powerful it is.

An OASYS for the masses would be more like re-issuing the Aston Martin DB 9 but with more horsepower, satellite radio, ipod dock, integrated radar/laser detector at the price of a BMW 325i. This all goes out the window if they are charging 7k for it. But it would not be a game changer as Korg claims it to be if it was over priced like the Big O.

US prices at Novamusik... $2999 for a 61 key KRONOS. Pricing is good. Now gotta wait for reviews on the sound quality.

I am looking forward to checking out the new changes. Different cup-holders? Phhhhffff. :punch: Seriously doubt anyone who extensively uses anything from a Triton to an Oasys would really say that. The SSD being tied to the sampler is a really big deal and something I am really looking forward to sampling. (no pun intended!) I read there are also some changes to the sequencer, especially when it comes to making real time changes while the it's playing for true performance inspired live sequencing on stage. The Big O has a huge sound compared to the Triton or M3 workstations. If the Kronos has this MONSTER of a sound, it will blow the doors off of any workstation currently out there. :idea:

Ah yes, it does come down to sound quality. Just heard back from some OASYS owners at NAMM and they say the OASYS fidelity is there in the KRONOS. It has the depth and sparkle. Big news! BTW... great to see another Texan on here. Howdy!

Although...the biggest thing with Kronos is the "smooth sound transitions" , isn't it? :)

Rudess is fun to watch fo sho! I always hate these types of demos... Why on earth would you want to show off the orchestral sounds on any synth? That is the weskest feature of any Rompler compared the VI's. These types of demos end up sounding so "workstation" like. I'm wondering how it will sell when all is said and done.
