In early October 1986, the Lyon region became the focal point of two historic events.
Pope John Paul II embarked on a four-day journey—through the Rhône, Saône-et-Loire, and Haute-Savoie departments—during which composer Jean-Michel Jarre offered,
in Lyon, the first major open-air urban concert in France.
Hundreds of thousands of faithful and spectators attended these exceptional gatherings, held under tight security due to the tense political climate. Through mostly unpublished photographs, archival documents, and personal accounts, the book *Prières & Musique* brings these pivotal moments back to life forty years later.
It highlights the striking resonance between two worlds: spiritual discourse and electronic music, contemplation and performance.
Two men. Two universes. Two encounters that profoundly marked the collective memory of an entire region.
