OXYGENE 2

NORDLEAD 2 - bass, sequence, minipops, VCS3 effects.

WALDORF Q - intro noise effect, triangle sound in 2nd part.

JP8000 - Eminent pad, plucks, 'flute' counter melody in 2nd part. This is a breakdown of the sounds through the 2nd part.

Some sounds on the Magnetic Fields album were ie. created with Fairlight CMI-I, Oberheim OB-X and Moog Liberation.
All you can do is trying to find out on wich "consumable" synths you best can duplicate those old dragons.
What sound on wich synths that are the closest or easiest to produce seems to be pretty much a personal taste.
I'm not that much "into this" but for Chronologie Roland JD8000 seems to be a popular tool and Oxygene 7-13 was almost
like a commersial for Nord Lead synths, even if other gear ofcourse were in use.

If you break down the sound elements of the tracks,I'd say the Nord was used simply on one song,Part 11 and nothing else.

Well his Oxygene 7-13 setup was huge and we don't know how much he used each piece of equipment. Some probably wasn't used that much. The Nord could be in that category aswell as the RMI for instance.

Ok, I see now it looks like I exaggerated about the Nord thingy.
I should had mentioned the 1997 Oxygene tour, not the album. :)
Still infact Clavia sponsored the tour with their red gears so (without going into any playback discussions)
at some concerts JMJ might have duplicated some sounds from the album on a Clavia Nord Lead. :smoke:
