I doubt he has the wealth he use to have back in his early days. A few gone wrong projects must have took it's toll on his bank account.

As to the subject, it is quite obvious that due to the global crisis in music, which started to manifest itself much earlier than the current financial crisis, a musician is once again what he used to be in the past - one that performs regularly, not just feeds on his former glory. Yes, this is NOT true about Jarre, as everyone knows well but ... what to think of, say, Tina Turner leaving the stage for good a few years ago and now returning on it under some vague pretext? Yes, the time of singing actors and clowns, like all those boy and girl groups with sexy videos and nearly nothing else, seems to have gone. If you want to be called a musician and earn money without waiting in the queue for your turn after all those copyright enforcement companies, then you have to perform live.
That's what made him tour this year, too, I think, because that's ready cash paid on the spot, so to speak.

I have today checked (again) with both AP and the promotor, and as far as any concert can be "on", this concert is on. I have been assured that it will be confirmed soon. However, the promotor understands if fans want to wait with buying tickets until AP's confirmation, and that is no problem for them. If you are unsure, I recommond that you wait too.

Generally speaking, these delays are not uncommon, it's just that now we know about this particular situation. It's a matter of information overload that everyone is interpreting. Keep in mind that contracts and formalities (status) are different from announcements (marketing).

As far as ticket refunds go, if you buy tickets from official outlets (billettservice.no) you have very strong security if events are cancelled, delayed or if acts pull out. Norway has lots of laws and regulations on this matter, and your ticket is insured against cancellation, etc.

When i was a child,so to say everyone in my family had a musical instrument,and the wonderful joy when we met playing music and we did sing,and it's beautiful memories!

Music is a so important part of humans life...can you think the life without music?

I don't think Jarre continue with concerts next year to get more money!
I feel it must be because of the fantastic success this year...and he wants of course to go on next year while the "potato is still warm" ...all true musicians love to play when people enjoy to listen!

And I am sure he also feel rich of new ideas!

Deep within me..I knew it all the time!
It is not impressive to me to have met a person who became a famous artist...I don't care about fame!
I have met many artists in my life...but I met a very special wonderful young personality that time...we met through some months before he left...
And those memories are very dear to me!
Today I do respect Jean Michel Jarre as a private person and an artist!
It took many years before I did really listen to his music..and I must say today I am very impressed by his sensitivity as a listener....composer and musician...he is really really unique! I can't compare his music to anything else really...
His concerts are great..but I like best to listen to his music in my home..his compositions are full of details and I need to be alone to really enjoy many of these artworks..because Jarre's 'musical paintings' are great artworks if you ask me!
I never get bored to study them..even though I don't like all of what he has created!
Nothing else beat Ethnicolor 1 from the album Zoolook which is one of his greatest work.

My best wishes to Jean Michel Jarre..and it was so great to see him so happy and full of energy in Paris 25 of March...it made me laugh....I do believe
he was actually himself when he was jumping around smiling..no doubt he loves his job as a musician on stage!!:lol:

Yes, you got me both right and wrong.

Yes, I was partly trying to pull your leg in a way, but the answer that came showed that I'd better not.

As far as money is concerned, yes you've got me right. It's good that this crisis in pop music because of piracy and what not else has ended in musicians being forced to tour across the world to make sure they get paid. I don't think that such acts as, for example, Metallica would go on tour because they just like to rock and hang out. Not them! It is very unsafe now to wait until someone chooses to buy a CD record. Jarre is not an exception, I assume, at least because he has obviously reserved the possibility of coming back to those countries he toured recently with his forthcoming album, being perfectly aware that a best hits concert would seem the best choice for an absolute majority of the listeners and spectators.

Incidentally, here in Latvia we even have one Zigmars Liepiņš, a locally well-known composer who, angry about the attitude of AKKA, a copyright agency claiming to be working for the artists to protect their interests, has published nearly all of his previous work both as staff and all of it in the mp3 format on his homepage. Well, yes, in this instance one can say with certainty that he is not concerned about trivia related to money.
