I know and that isn't the easy part.

Believe me, I don't think that anybody in this world wants one of these more than me. I've tried to collect photos an info from known owners of it and samples from the different machines. I've tried to get in contact with EKO in Italy (but they don't even remember making it!) and other silly things. It's like my vintage car dream really. I even dreamt about it (pathetic - yes, but still true). :lol: Moog 55? Keep it. ARP2500? Keep that as well. Elka Synthex? Nah... EKO Computerhythm? YES! :lol: :wink:

BUT! I have no idea how the heck I am suppose to pay for one if I ever found one. It's on the market (well, it has been from time to time) for collectors only or persons with an extrem budget for these excellent things. In short---out of reach. I would sell my entire setup for an EKO, no problem. But I still wouldn't have enough money to buy.
Parsick had good luck when he found his baby. But I guess that it was one in a lifetime luck.

So that is what I meant. I understand the rules perfectly. But I can't play along with them. :)

The other question is, if it is really worth to buy one. I mean, it looks surely great when it works, but it would be a toy for a few moments and and after that a dust collector. Look at Michael Leicher, he was one of the biggest Synth collectors, but he sold everything because of that. To build a similar machine would not be that problem, cause it really doesn´t use much special components. But, as i´ve told, i believe it is not worth to make such a stress about that thing. I´ve payed over 500 Euro´s for my Mp7, which was in a bad shape and i had more stress than fun with it. Now it stands since months unused beside my CR78. Ok, i can say "i have one", but it is more or less unusable.

500??? WOW! I only payed 45... it belonged to an old man in Amsterdam... he had it on his eminent (no not a 310 :lol:)

I don't think the EKO is that spectacular soundwise... it does have an awesome look. Remind you all the lightsFX you see in the clip are NOT there IRL. They are just pushbuttons that illuminate when on. (as far as I know)

I have multiple drum machines... I use all except the RZ1... yet it was used a lot in several tracks.. I over used it when I was young (it was my only drum machine).... even now I can remember the sounds after not hearing it for many many years...it's still a Casio ;)

Hehe, i believe i know what it was. Ever thought about the KORG KPR-55 (which Jarre also used on MF)? Just listen:

JMJ used Korg KR 55 on Magnetic Fields (made in 1979) :) KPR 77 was made in 1982
btw i'm not sure about the rimshot, kr55 has very diffrent rim than yours


500??? I bought mine in excellent condition for 93$ ;)

LeoDav: Museums!? Where? :o I would love to check them out if I am on vacation close to any of them.

Btw, it do light up like a sparkling christmastree when you use it. That is what every owner I've talked with is most excited about. (strange) :) Parsicks baby was used by a small band in a pub somewhere in Germany as a lighteffect. They never even considered to use it as a drummachine. It just looked great when it twinkled. :lol:


Phasereffect: Yes, the price is way to high. But I am not interested in just having one to show off, like the moron Leicher. He just had his machines to show off, never used them and they all started to die. But now it's a collectors item. Something to own but not to use.
I love the sounds of the EKO and of course I love the looks too. I often use the samples from it, so if I had one I would use it big time.

As I was saying, it's my vintage car. One of two instruments I dream to own. One Mellotron and one EKO Computerhythm. Both expensive as hell. It won't happen but it's great to dream sometimes. :)

Ok, we agree that it was the EKO. I mean, noone can really proof it (if Stephen really talked to Jarre regarding this is also a big question), but it seems the only possibility. Even i´ve never heard a real one.

I don't think that he lied. But if he did and it turns out that it actually is another drummachine than the EKO on Equinoxe 4 then why didn't Jarre ever used it as a drummachine? :? :wink:

Ah, well..too many question without answers. Damn, I want Jarre and Geiss to explain the two albums Oxygene & Equinoxe in detail. What instrument was used where and what modifications where made on them and yada yada yada... :lol:

I mean, even i would not explain which instrument i used for my songs. As more Ppl would know what i use, as more Ppl would try to copy me. And i don´t think that i would like it. Ok, he could explain it, i mean, after so much Years it would be only interesting for us freaks, but if he won´t do so, then we simply have to accept it. It is his own decision.

To me it's not a big deal telling how I've made my songs. I love talking gear and recording! :D

But of course I respect that people don't want to reveal their secrets. I was just saying that it would be great to listen and learn about something behind the scenes of those two albums. After all it was different times back then in the recording studios and also with synths.

I've always wondered from what the bassdrum on Oxygene 3 comes from. A synth or a drummachine? Maybe the EKO? :shock: :wink:
