After my disasterous time with the Alesis Fusion Workstation, I have decided to get another workstation. I'm looking into a Korg Triton classic with (hopefully) upgrades, moss board, etc.

Don't bother with the Classic,Go for the Extreme Model,the classic can only hold 2 of the EXB boards,the Extreme has more or less all of the PCM data from all the EXB boards(Apart from MOSS),so even if you went for the Classic,and all the EXB boards(If you can still find them that is)you'd still never be able to take full advantage of the Expansions,the Extreme's OS is also a lot faster than the Classic which can be a little sluggish at times if doing demanding sequences,when I say sluggish,I'm talking about screen redraws when selecting pages and such,the Extreme is lightning fast,If you'd ever used a Triton you'd know where I'm coming from with this.

With the Extreme all you need to add is the Moss Board.You can burn your tracks direct to a CD burner Via USB,and you have full PC integration with it too,and storage media is better (Compact flash or Ext USB device,with direct transfer to and from PC H/Drive via USB cable)whereas the Classic only has 3.5"Floppy drive(Standard)external SCSI to Storage device which unless the SCSI board is fitted you'll never get hold of one,so you'll always be stuck with mountains of floppies!

Classic will be cheaper option but limited expansion and storage options,Extreme is better value for Money,secondhand shouldn't be that Much more Costly than an old Classic for the 61 Note.You should be able to get an EX61 for around £600-750 with MOSS if you look hard enough.

I am looking today into the Triton Extreme. The stats on it are nice, but seeing the various YouTube vids, not one of them show what this thing can do - and I'm sure it can do more than play the same old piano, violin, cello.

Last Summer I did also visit a shop in London. They were selling a JX-3P and a JD-800. I don't know if it was the same shop or not. Perhaps it was on Denmarkstreet.

Mmmm...JD-800...my digital love...but far too fragile.

I have sold all of my hardware now and joined the dark side (laptop musicians).
So my latest synthesizers are Reason 4 and ImpOscar.

My setup:

Macbook, M-Audio Axiom 25, Logic 8, Reason 4, Mtron, Imposcar

This will not last forever though. As soon as I get back on my feet I'll get a Prophet 08 and a Moog LP for sure. No more vintage shit. I leave those to far more technical lads and lasses.

Looks to be in a cosmetical nice condition.
The Prophet-5 has always been my favourite polysynth, but far too expensive, and some of the first version were very unstable.

I've noticed now more of these P5 are coming up for sale now,Perhaps because of the interest in the New DSI P8 version,or the Owners are looking to buy the P8 for a more reliable less costly replacement and ditching there Original Prophet 5's

the same thing happened with the MM when the Voyager was first made.there was surge of Original Minis being sold on at reasonable prices.I expect the price of the Original Minimoogs to come right down if the Oldskool Version Voyager takes off,after all with a Minimoog original your only paying for the cult status of its name,You can easily get that Moog sound from an Oldskool or Phatty at less cost

There is a dude in his 30s with long hair.

The JD800 was on the back wall by the stairs going down. The CSX to the left near the back of the shop by some guitars.
The Micron inside the counter glass shelf.

I had a look int heir small front window, loads of nice guitar stompboxes and small Boss & Zoom 4 track digital recorders.
Also a Zoom H2 which would be ideal for field and ambient noise recodrings

I also went into Turdkey ... just a few shops away.
Played on the Moog Phatty ... sorry to say its got an awfully cheap feel keyboard.
Played on the Roland and Yamaha 88 note digi pianos. The Roland RD700SX has one of the best actions this side of £3K imo. Just superb to play on.
Played on the Prophet 08 . What is interesting is that the sounds on it are Not necessarily better than say a Norlead or TI . BUT the sounds shimmer and have movement and life

I moved to an allpc setup 7 years ago Went back to hardware earlier this year.
Though my ideal would be a hybrid ... i.e. vsts and soft synths but in a dedicated hardware box.
There was the Muse Receptor.

You Don't Like its action?

I think its really good,Your typical Monosynth action great for fast lead lines,its far more nicer to play than that of the Korg Prophecy,I don't Like weighted and semi weighted for fast melody runs.
Each to his own I suppose.

I'm interested in having a demo on the P8 for sure,all the reviews I've been reading sound really promising.Its great that we have much more choice of real analogs (Andromeda/Moog Phatty/Voyager,and now the P8) now with up to date reliability.I personally think Romplers have become tired and stale in the past 5 years or so.I'm sick of them trying to sound mroe and more like Real acoustic Instuments which is not what synthesizers are about IMO.
