My advice will always be: look on the positive side of things. Sure, his condition has no positive side, but let's hope he'll be born without problems and you and your wife/girlfriend enjoy great moments together with your child so that his condition will be on the background of your lifes...

In the instance it doesn't close, it is Not dangerous, UNless the hole is too big.
Many normal adults have a small hole in the heart ... the sound of which can be picked up on a stetoscope.
If the hole is too big, then an operation can be necessary.
In any instance,
one often finds that those with any such conditions often have some extra capability that balances this out.
