with Earth via an Oxygène -style musical motif. In 2018, life imitated
art when musicians sent samples of their music via a radio frequency
antennae to GJ273B, a possibly habitable planet more than 12 light
years from Earth. Jarre contributed a new
version of Oxygène (Part IV) inspired by
the music from Close Encounters.
I didn't hear anything about this.

If I remember rightly, towards the end of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, one of the American scientists plays the musical motif back to the aliens on a huge synth with illuminated keys.
Also, in the Science Fare section of that article, and the six selected albums: Of these, four of them are from 1984 (Zoolook) onwards. Given Kraftwerk's last original work of any note was from 1981 (Computer World) .... Electric Café in 1986 was bang average and Tour de France Soundtracks in 2003 was a one-off, really ... we really should be grateful as JMJ fans for the constant evolution of his work and the stream of new ideas, projects and music.
Imagine being a full-on Kraftwerk fan, stuck in time, four decades ago?!

Got that wrong, no illuminated keyboard. It was a panel behind the scientists and muscians with lights linked to the music

To commemorate Sónar's 25th anniversary in 2018, the festival embarked on an experiment to send 33 pieces of music to Luyten b, a potentially habitable exo-planet located 12.4 light years from Earth. Artists close to the festival who submitted specially created pieces of music include Jean-Michel Jarre, Autechre, Squarepusher, Nina Kraviz, The Black Madonna, Matmos, Laurent Garnier and Olafur Arnalds. The project was devised as "A celebration, an artistic and scientific experiment and a collective rumination on what it means to be human, and alien", and developed in collaboration with the Catalonia Institute of Space Studies and METI.
I saw Kanta reported about this in 2017. I have not paid attention.

...cool, with **MY** "Deserted Palace" LP cover scan (it's the one I got autographed after the "Marigny" concerts back in December of 2007, then very much later rescanned for my now almost finished book project, and then uploaded to Discogs) - very sexy!
