new synth

thinking of buying a new synth but one that is really good for creating strings & pads can you all recomend one at around £600 thanks for any feedback

Nope... For strings [orchestral, solinas etc] and sci fi, pads, atmospheres I recommend JV series.... Realy ass-kicking

You will be able to buy a JD990 with that

You are right, it is really a great machine, some of my friends have it and the sound is amazingly good, it's in my wishlist

An Oberheim OB would be a great idea, and the Prophet5 too
But for this price, dunnow, they are becoming quite rare nowadays...

Poor jarrekid, he only knows one synth
But I would say : no enough polyphony for pads
