Maybe one of the most bizarre releases in Jean-Michel Jarre's career, Oxygene in the Ghetto is a (deleted) single-only release and was played at the Electronic Night in 1998. It features rappers Trigga da Gambler and Dadou who rap over a heavily processed sample of Oxygene 4. First time I heard it I was confused of what to think of this. And I still think it's weird. But it was prophetic, because in later years a lot of acts have used JMJ's music as music for their raps.

Anyway, the reason for posting this topic (apart from that this release never had a topic on its own) I found this video:

I read through the comments and found this one:
i sat with alot of powerful people before i wrote the song and i recorded it on the spot i listen to the music for 30 minutes than it was a great idea the song been perform in front of millions of people ifle tower 3.5 and more and that was the early 90
Which got a reply:
What up Trigga !!!!!! We did this record in 98.....
So Trigga Da Gambler commented on this video (but he didn't have a few facts straight.

Fun to see one of the people involved in the release post about it :D

I'm really not fan of the genre and don't like this either, but have always been a bit interested in how this became a thing. Such a odd thing when you look at all the available singles.

I'm not a fan of the genre either, but I love "Harleckinz - What time is it", esp. the instrumental (obviously...). That was my first encounter with Oxygene 2 realigned into a classic 16th rhythm - the same thing that Kosinski did in the WTTOS remix.

When I first saw this Oxygene 3 t-shirt, it reminded me of the "Oxygene In The Ghetto" release.

If we listen to the english lyrics it is Conscious Rap.
Conscious Rap rhymes social issues, human rights, enlightenment.

It is therefore understandible reason JmJ chose this particular rapper.
