For quite some time I've been thinking about a portable Eminent.

The concorde 902 that I gutted gave me the perfect basis to start what I have thought about. I have 2 complete 310's in (spare) parts so if I ruin something I always have a backup

It's going to be for sure X years before it's completed but here is the start:



As you might see these parts are from a 310 Theatre All fancy coloured tabs You can even spot the Rythmix drumcomputer in the middle

Cool idea I am thinking of doing some re-arranging in a Yamaha SY-1. Take away the presset section and add more controls for the synthesizer hidden in there.

Sounds like a good idea, I don't think it should take you years if you work hard at it though.

Shouldn't be too difficult to Mod it into a smaller case,(something along the lines of a solina/Logan perhaps) but with 2 manuals?????

although i think the main tuning Board may prove tricky to try and house in a portable case unless you house the circuits on another frame and take them off the metal subframe and build something the same width as the upper manuals to fix them too.... remember these must be accessible to be able to tune the pots..


I had to dismantle mine to get it into my studio(studio is in the attic space),once you remove the case all you are left with is the main circuit boards the Two keyboards the swell pedal and main tuning circuit board,theres a lot of weight in the Metal subframes that hold the Keyboards and main board.


I once thought about reducing the case on my E310,basically the most of the casing is just irrelavant,if you take away the Speaker units and pedal boards there really is no point in the case other than for holding the swing out main board,if you could rehouse this then I dont see why you couldnt make it portable..you could even use the Exisiting Eminent Case with a little Woodworking skills,just cut off the Cabinet above the Speaker cabs and make some form of plug in pedal board for the Pedals and swell pedal,if i had a spare Eminent 310i would have a go myself,but i don't want to demolish my cherished Emmy..

The aim is to make it with the full 2 manuals I have roughly 3cm on each side space left for wires and so on. The height is not important I already measued that the casing I have here is 10cm higher then the 310 will become so... not a real problem

Makeing it fit is not the challenge. Resoldering all wires is. When I gutted the 2 310's I was in kindof a hurry (I had both for sale back then but noone wanted them and I had to move to this house... space was limited..can't put all 3 upstairs... what should I do? throw away was a shame so I decided to cut them into peices for spare parts and this idea) so I cutted all main wire trees.... Mabye a complete rewire is the better thing to do...

The plan for the pcb's from the back plane is to put them all together vertically or some rows horizontally. I just have to see what space I have left. I always could make a new casing if this concorde box won't work. Ofcource I want the oscillators boards to be enough visible so I can tune the 310.

The pedal and swell pedal are not a real problem.

And yes GeeJee... I'm crazy but you need to have crazy ppl in this world to improve concepts or invent stuff

There is even an older wish for the 310 and that's a total midification ... it's doable but it will cost a whole lot of cash since most keys have 3 or more wires that need to be switched per key. Imagine the number of 4066's (or different IC's (found some that could switch more then just 4/ic)) you need...

Mabye a build-in smallstone and mistress is also a nice touch for a portable eminent but that's definitive at the verry end of this project.

The reason why it will talke a lot of time to complete is: I have to work each day and give my attention to our little Aurora and my wife... time for other pleasures like making music or doing things like this is, unfortunately, limited.
