Royal Docks to host free fireworks display

Newham Council’s free event - relocated from its former location on Wanstead Flats - will take place at the Silvertown Quays site on Saturday, November 3.

The fireworks are set to be released from the top of the Millennium Mills building, accompanied by a musical soundtrack that nods to the area’s heritage in the shape of a track by Jean-Michel Jarre.

The electronic musician held his Destination Docklands event, which attracted 200,000 people over two days, in the Royal Docks 30 years ago.

Brought to the public free of charge by the Mayor of Newtham, the annual Guy Fawkes Night boasts a traditional night of fireworks and food with fair rides too. The display will open to the sounds of As One by electronic musician and composer Jean-Michel Jarre with samples from Come Together by Primal Scream. This track has been specially chosen to mark 30 years since the composer’s Destination Docklands event on the Royal Victoria Dock in October 1988.
