I'm gonna buy a small, effective synth, and were thinking of the Korg Microsynth, because of the size, (but also the vocoder... ) but I wonder if anybody else here has it or have anything to say about it...

Maybe you speak about the microKORG ? If yes, it is a very good synth

Quite a Nifty piece of gear,given that its based on the Triton Engine,it has some good sounds on it,Its kind of like a slimmed down Triton LE with a 2 octave keyboard...

I'm not sure if its availible yet in Europe,last time i spoke to my friend he said they hadnt begun production as yet and were only shipping demo units to the States.I'm still waiting to demo one in the UK

The MicroX is basically a Triton yes, in a different shape. This is good if you want digital sounds (pads, pianos, strings, etc.)
The microKorg is good for "analog" sounds (basses, leads) and is a super synth.
Buying both would be a good choice.

MicroX is like a Triton but smaller. MicroKorg is another name on Microsynth. I were just wondering of expirience of it, not a name discussion... But thanks for the answers. I'll maybe buy the MicroX later. In half a year or something.

MicroKorg - better for beginners definitely.

For my case, I would have vote for a midi keyboard with a lot of VSTs which can be found for free on internet (legally ) and after, Mogan can choose which type of synthesis he loves or which kind of synth he really want (synthesis or PCM or other).
So for my case I would buy a cheap synth like the D50 is, it has great sounds and can be used as master keyboard.

But that's only IMHO, that's how I am discovering synthesis and how synths really work and it doesn't cost me more than 300€ (included D50, PG1000 and soundcard).

Me thinks (as curious it sounds, since it comes from -my- mouth!), it doesn´t matter if you use a DSP-driven Synth or Software, so i think that you´ll be with a cheapo Master-KB with a good Software in the result more than happy.And good free Software-Synths are more than enough outside there. My experience with VA wasn´t that good, since they´re all more or less cheap build, so when your MKorg/MSynth/MS2K/whatever dies, you´ll have only a piece of unusable Software inside of a DSP. Ok, you -have- something in your hands. 2K for example, nowadays usually not more worth than $300-$400, payed for mine about 6 Years ago over the double price. And their price won´t rise, except those, who are mainly known and much used in the pro-world, but the 2K definitive doesn´t belong there. On one kind seen i like this machine, on the other side i hate it.

I´ll give you the tip: Better concentrate yourself into making good music instead of never ending synth maintenance and correcting bad output signals. It kills your creativity like hell. No question, personally i still hate Software, cause the investment costs for a pro-studio bulild around software is still not cheaper than using "real" hardware and real analogue gear -has- simply a better quality, but meanwhile i say: Better a full analogue setup -or- software. This mixage of "half-analogue", VA and pure analogue equipment won´t work together without problems. And the listener doesn´t matter how "analogue" a sound appears, he only wanna get "included" into the "beauty" of your songs. Additionally, nowadays the person behind the music doesn´t interest no more, cause music has got a "consumer product", not a life attitude or a personal relationship like it was 20/30 years ago. Consider that in your choice.

So now GEM is ranked as something less good?
That doesn't matter, I don't know the quality of GEM.
