I know the "sister-concert" in Houston was eventually released on DVD, but has "Rendez-vous Lyon" ever gone beyond VHS?

No. There are only bootlegs DVDs. Rendez-vous Houston was announced by Francis Dreyfus Music on September 29th 2008, scheduled for release in the UK starting October 13th 2008. But on October 4th, it was officially canceled.

Official statement from Francis Dreyfus Music:
"We had to hold this release for contractual reasons but do hope this issue will soon be solved. However that some fans have received the DVD before cancellation is impossible because not one single copy of the DVD was shipped out of our office in Paris to our foreign distributors, at the time the DVD release was put on hold. The stock is locked up. A merchant website confirmed to us in writing that they had not sold any DVD to any customer who had ordered it, for the simple reason that they had no stock. So either the fans are lying, or the DVD they have purchased is a pirate recording. As you can imagine, a pirate recording is a very serious copyright infringement and its quality is certainly very poor."

Aww... they even canceled the Houston DVD? That's a shame. I hope this can be resolved some day. These historic concerts deserve better than lousy VHS copies.

Jarre was interviewed on BBC and said about DVD releases of Houston/Lyon:

A few weeks Jean Michel said he'd like upgrade the Houston video [maybe the others too], but he said he'd will do it himself and will need to find the time...so don't expect any upgrade too soon...when there's a double again in the limelight :smoke:

I would like the entire concert music release not ''just'' a visual and sound upgrade...maybe even re-cut the footage with better images.

Mike Mansfield are you listening?!!

They also released Concerts in China on DVD in Australia in 2008, but unlike the Houston one, the China DVD was actually available for purchase until it was cancelled in the same way as the Houston one, and I still have my copy.

Not that it's that special, at any rate, certainly better than a fan-made VHS->DVD conversion since it's converted from an Australian TV master, but it hasn't been enhanced in any way so it's quite flat and boring.

Not that the CiC "concert" video is anything special to begin with, but at least it has an actual Magnetic Fields 1 unlike the album. :P

I like to see Equinoxe 7 on the Lyon-DVD. But that's may be to much. We need to be happy with a remastered DVD of the original videotapes I think. If the sound and images are better then I'm happy. We can only dream about something more on the DVD like extra tracks added, photo gallery, ...

Greetings,

Christophe

Someone need to say JMJ to release original concert audio from Houston/Lyon concerts as separate releases with full tracklists, even if this will be just iTunes release. Actually I don't need those DVD re-releases with studio sound and shortened tracklists. Almost the same I could say about La Defence concert.
