I contacted scott hull at masterdisk mastering yesterday asking if the 96/24 files that he extracted from the analog masters back in 97 were still in existance.

He replied and stated that these files along with the tapes were returned to sony for release etc and were maybe still in existance.

As far as releasing them went, he had no news on such plans, especially as the new masters have recently been completed. He suggested trying to lobby sony for their release as wavs, etc.

I know that his versions (apart from the well known issues) have a great number of fans, and was wondering if this could have legs on it, as far as getting sony to release some of these files at least?

Cheers,

I'm a fan - I'd love to see a Hi-Res release of the Scott Hull masters, they're a darn sight better than the current ear bleedingly loud masters ...

Agreed, the Dadwater remasters are terrible, but the Scott Hull remasters are mostly bad. Stick to the originals if you want the best audio.

I like the Dadwater ones more than the Hull's ones. Some of them are good, but most of them sounds terrible. The Hull's are terrible too in artwork with lot of grammatical mistakes and dots on the artwork. Not Hull's mistake ofcourse. I prefer the Dadwater ones in any way!

What are all the errors with the Scott Hull remasters?

I know about the Equinoxe stereo panning problem, the extended Ethnicolor on Zoolook because of a section that was duplicated and I know about the skip on Chronologie 4 and the sarcastic click on Chronologie 6 but are there any other faults with them?
