Hi--
Where can I listen to the original, 1st edition, non-remixed versions of the songs Zoolook and Zoolookologie? Are they on YouTube?
Also, please describe the differences between the original mixes and the remixed versions.
Thank you!

Yeah so this for example is not the original 1984 (CD) mix but rather the 1997 remastered mix. It's easy to figure out due to the complete lack of a bass drop the first ten seconds of the track. The remix features one at about six seconds into the track and another one ten seconds into the track, but the one you posted completely lack any and all bass drops. The 30th anniversary CD actually goes back to what is the original 1984 CD mix by featuring a single bass drop a few seconds into the track (19:17). All three versions also have a different length.rinogurr wrote:Zoolook original:
I've ignored the 1997 release because it had errors: the swapped left/right channels and, I did not realized until earlier this year, the wrong mixing of Ethnicolor. They were not fixed (in fact, the 2015 releases have the same errors except that left/right are ok again).shadow wrote:But how come you don't consider those tracks? The '97 is different with both Zoolook and Zoolookologie. Hell even Ethnicolor and Blah-Blah Café were changed for this release. I can get behind the '15 since those are the original '84 mix but remastered to the point of absurdity...
I've noticed those flaws myself also, but at least the switched channels are fixed with a click of a button. I still don't get the (new?) edits of Ethnicolor, Diva and Blah-Blah Café however (the other two were also changed for the '97 edition). They're all slightly different with bits being extended or just different altogether. And there doesn't really seem to be a reason for it...Dr_Jones wrote:I've ignored the 1997 release because it had errors: the swapped left/right channels and, I did not realized until earlier this year, the wrong mixing of Ethnicolor. Some copies have one sigh extra between part 4 and 5shadow wrote:What different versions? I'm aware of the original pressing that split Second and Fifth Rendez-vous in multiple parts. But I don't recall it actually having a new mixing (minus the missing beat in the fourth track).
This is standard version of the album.shadow wrote:What different versions? I'm aware of the original pressing that split Second and Fifth Rendez-vous in multiple parts. But I don't recall it actually having a new mixing (minus the missing beat in the fourth track).
Wow. Never noticed this before. Thanks. Strangely, to my knowledge, this difference does not appear on any french issue.Violator wrote:Credits from the 2nd version:shadow wrote:What different versions? The difference between 2 versions is in slightly different version of 4th rendez-vous. In the 1st case the track was mixed by Ermelin and Vanzetto. In the 2nd case it was mixed by Kervorkian.
