Scrutch scrutch on my laptop's soundcard...

Hi,
I was playing Oxygène 2 on my laptop (D50 as master kybd) and suddently, the sound became crap and now, when I move the volum control (on the windows' mixer), there is a "scrutch" sound crappy...
What do you think it is ??
I hope my laptop is not brocken !!!! (It is still under warranty
)

News :
It's happening when I play a sound (MP3, film and so on) but only on the right channel !!
It's happening to the internal right speaker and via the "OUT" connector to the right channel
I think it's a problem with my internal soundcard.....
What do you think ?

I think it is, indeed. Try to re-install the driver. But I'm afraid that won't help...

Do you have something like a "3D-Simulation" program for your Soundcard? Usually such programs are delivered for CMI-Soundchips/room simulation etc. Go into your System control and check for a item (maybe) called "CMI 3D config" and check if there´s any sort of simulation enabled.

No, I disabled all things like that and the sound is still crappy

The only (maybe) possible thing would be the "playback quality" tab under the sounds/multimedia control....but this usually happens to both speakers....or do you have the Ace Mega Codecs Pack installed?!?

I have not these codecs, I use VLC Media Player
A "cratch" sound appears during Windows XP launch (when you see the logo), there is short "chpok" on the right speaker, it's the first time I heard it.
During Windows XP launch, there is no software launched, so, I think, it can't be a soft problem, so, by definition, I think it's a hardware problem....
I'll contact the SAV (I had 2 dead-pixels on the screen too, from around 10 months but they are not very viewables), so I hope they'll exchange my computer !!

Have you tried to change speakers or use ear phones...is the "scrach" still there even if you do so?

The "scratch" appears on the right speaker of the internal speaker and on the right speaker via the jack

It is (was) a Realtek AC97 but I have the same on my sister's computer and no problem !
