Well, still looking for the right effects plugins of some of the ones used by JMJ...
please, need some help.
I don't intend to go for the hardware vintage originals, clones or modern units,
just want software ones.

While I have got now the ArtsAcoustic Big Rock emulation of Small Stone Mk2, and find myself very very fine with it, I'm still looking for flanger and chorus sounds used by JMJ.

I found that NI Guitar Rig 4 has emulations of Electric Mistress flanger (and Small Stone too): I tried both but I didn't liked them too much.
What are your suggestions for a good Electric Mistress in VST format?
Did you find any?

For Orbitone (it's the chorus section on Eminent, right?) and other chorus FX used on Oxygene and Equinoxe albums I can achieve its sound with normal chorus?
Or is it still unreplicated?

I'm trying many plugins (within Cubase, free or commercial that I've already) but
honetly I can't figure out if I got the right ones to work with or not...
especially if JMJ originally has layered both effects with Small Stone on the same synth.

Any help would be appreciated a lot.

well i don't know any vst that can make THAT flange sound. JMJ used med depth, slow rate and high amount of COLOR that added those strange harmonics into sound [oxy5]

as for 310u chorus... it was not chorus [ending part of oxy5 solo] ... only tremolo

Radek has that Orbitone chorus ever been used on any instrument?
The plucks for example, they have some chorus right? Is that the same?

the plucks? no... it's octave 4' + string 4' with short percussion decay + small amount of vibratto. this vibratto makes plucks sound chorusy a bit.

as far as i know jmj usted only tremolo. you can hear it in ending part of oxygene 5 solo

about plucks, you mean the one also of Equinoxe4 chorus and Oxygene2?
or are you both talking only about Oxygene 5?

for Chorus and Flanger I got also those free by Blue Cat to try, they don't seem bad.

The effects of Omnisphere are good (many are retro/vintage kind, but I can't use them outside of it for other VI plugins ...
I have to try also those of my Pulsar DSP card, but it's not easy to apply on several single sounds without sacrifice many channels connected to ASIO outs coming from Cubase,
and generally I connect just 6 stero ASIO busses to the mixer.

plucks from oxy2 and eq4 are 2 simple presets from 310u with decay and vibratto

same 2 presets were used in eq5 refrain but this time with mistress

The oxy 5 solo = horn + trumpet + princ solo stops. End of solo = Chorus on, Tremelo on, Principals solos upperman on, Tibias on, Sustains on (Orbitone section).

Oxy 2 plucks = octave '4 + string '4 + princ solo stops. The first part of the plucks in oxy 2 was played with percusion off, the second part (oxy 2 plucks) was with percusion on. Slider percusion length 2 cm open.

Equi4 plucks = same of oxy 2 plucks, but Slider percusion length almost closed.

Ofcourse, you are right (my fault).

But i'm pretty sure that the first part of the oxy2 plucks was done without percussion on.

or the closest one at least.
The feel of the sound is now changed a lot.

I have watched close photos of Eminent U310 controls on a Sound On Sound old review.
It's tricky to get these reproduced on emulations...
ok, now for vibrato (I saw it has a slider for intensity) but what about these other Percussion, Solo Stops, Tibias buttons, etc?
What do they control actually on the sound?
Are just a sort of ADSR kind of controls?

Maybe i am going a bit off what you are after, but recently i was looking at vocoders because i was intrigued by the vocoder sounds at the beginning of equinoxe part 5.
Now i believe jarre used the ems 1000 or 2000 or something like that and i looked all over for an emulation, and it is called "The Eiosis Els Vocoder Vst" so google it and see if you can buy it or download the demo.

Well, actually I'm not after Jarre's vocoder sounds at the moment, and anyway I will go with the ones I have already (JP8080, Creamware Pulsar/Scope, Virus B, and a couple more), if/when I'll need them again in my future productions.

tibias are hmmm... organ sound registers. tibias were used in equinoxe 4 when you can hear "robot vocoder" sounds

310u has no adsr. it has only sustain for some sounds that acts more like release. there is also register which you can use to shorten this release a bit [can be useful for oxygene 5 mistress part]

percussion acts like decay activation. with slider you can set amount of this decay

Would you say that the O2 flute has any chorus on it by default or applied by user, to taste?

What about the bass pedal sound, it is definitely in true stereo, at least on O1, O3 and O5, is that a product of the Eminent's natural channel assignment or an insert effect?
