T'was the night before Jarremas...

Twas the night before Jarremas,
When all through the house,
Not a computer was stirring,
Not even a computer mouse.
The sythesizers were stood by the chimney with care,
I was really too drunk to play them - or care!

The dvds were nestled all snug in their cases,
Containing visions of lights, lasers, happy faces.
And me in my slippers and dressing gown,
Had just settled in for a bit of a sit down.

When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter,
Away to the window I ran like a prat,
Tore open the windows and threw out the cat.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Gave a lustre of midday to the objects below.
when, what to my wondering eyes should appear
Jarre on a sleigh loaded down with his gear!

With a little synth driver, so lively and fast,
I knew Jarre had visited me at long last!
More rapid than eagles, his fellow musicians came,
He whistled and shouted, called each one by name.

"Now Sammard! now Rimbert! Dominique Perrier!
On with these keyboards - we've a concert to play!
From the top of Oxygene to Oxy 12th part!
Play, play, PLAY! And do it with heart!"

And then in a twinkling, I head from the roof,
the sound of an old analogue moog,
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
I inadvertantly invented 5.1 sound.

Jean Michel was dressed in a black and white suit,
But he hit a glitch when his synth went all mute,
He pulled out an array of synths from the sleigh,
Plugged them all in and he was away!

He spoke not a word as he set off to his task
He played all of the music - I didn't have to ask!
And putting the keyboard down at the end of the set,
"There's much better coming, but don't bank on it yet!"

He sprang to his sleigh to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down on a thistle,
But I heard him exclaim when he flew from my view
"Here's to something different, exciting and new!
And a very merry Christmas all, Including you!"

Kanta, I keep a copy (of a copy) on my computer for such ocassions as 'Christmas
(I have seen it in the past copy/pasted on facebook and linked to via twitter and other places.. besides, if I ever need another copy, I know *exactly* where to go :D

Black Bird: I had to have it rhyme and fit in and it was the first thing that sprung to mind when I wrote it... several years ago!

It's almost as much a traditional classic as much as the 'literal' translation of 'C'est La Vie/Celery' (now that's going TOO far back!)
