Hi,

I saw this old string ensample on a school i worked in today, and of cause I had to power it up and try it ;)
Roland RS-202

It couldn't compete with Arp Solina and Eminent but could do it ok with a Small Stone Phaser I am sure.

I have one question to ask: How the H..L did they make these ensamples 61 voice polypnonic when synths from the same time are monophonic or maybe 2-3 voice ??

Top-octave division. You´ve got a set of twelve high-frequency oscillators that get divided down per octave.The Polymoog and the Korg PS series work this way, too.

The RS-202 is indeed a very nice machine, I´d prefer it over the Solina any day. It doesn´t sound as obtrusive as the Solina, and it´s nowhere near as overused.

An original EH Polyphase works very well with it.
