I just received a email from Qobuz, that they are now offering the Studio Master of: Oxygene, Equinoxe and Magnetic Fields. I haven't downloaded them myself yet, but I thought it was worth mentioning as these have been in planning stage for years, and finally they actually see the light of day.

I'm looking forward to my download, more information: http://www.qobuz.com/interprete/jean-mi ... e_20111021

I love the pix. He looks rough and haggard. Very real and honest. Not all primped up and full of botox. :bravo:

I would urge extreme caution about downloading these. They sound fantastic for sure, but for some bizarre reason each track fades out instead of seamlessly following the next. It's maddening because the sound quality is great, but the whole experience is ruined. The whole point of these albums in particular is the way the tracks segue into each other. This isn't so much of an issue for albums such as Zoolook or Metamorphoses, but imagine listening to Oxygene 1 and waiting for Part 2 to begin and then a quick fade and Part 2 jumps in clumsily ....
I emailed Qobuz about his and they said FDM requested that the albums be presented this way - I find this very difficult to believe. I've emailed FDM for a response to this to no avail so far.
I suppose I could make a decent compilation .....

About problem with fade in / fade out in the tracks:

"Hello everyone.

"We took into account the remarks of some buyers on the presence of fade in / fade out on the new remastered versions of Oxygene, Equinoxe and Magnetic Fields.

"We will soon offer, at the end of the current tour of Jean Michel, to all purchasers who acquired the site and Qobuz no extra cost, the same files without these volume changes between tracks.

"We hope this will meet your expectations!

"- The team of Jean Michel Jarre

I thought I'd break my silence here to give an update regarding the HiRes files, specifically the first missing notes of Oxygene 1. Here's the reply I received from the only company bothered to follow up on my enquiry - remember this is the reply given to Linn by FDM:

"Please find below the response we received from Disques Dreyfus.

We clearly understand your request.

Jean Michel Jarre made this HD remastered version a long time ago, and this issue has already been brought to our attention.

Unfortunately, we can't reach him anymore to make these changes, and we're afraid it is going to stay that way.

We are very sorry for not being able to bring you satisfaction here.

Thank you for your understanding."

Ladies & Gentlemen, make of that what you will ...
