I am not the fan of JMJ anymore like many years ago....

Good evening,
Some people will know me... other people not...
I'm a fan of jarre since 1987...
Jarre was very famous then....
I was on some of his concerts... Europe in Concert Brussels, Oxy 7-13 Brussels, Oxy 2008 (first concert in the theatre of Paris Dec 2008) and the last concert was in forest national brussels with his world tour (2010)...
I have all his cd's, LP's, some cassettes, books,....
I've followed all his concerts (some on VHS, some on the internet ((il)legale)
But the last years.... there is nothing new he brought to us (the fans)...
Always the same concerts (on other locations).... I just miss the old good days...
A new album <==> a new concert...
Destination Docklands... Revolutions
Europe in concert... Chronologie
Paris La Defense... Waiting for Cousteau.
Oxygen in concert (1997).... Oxy 7-13.
Still... I'm using this board for the info of upcoming concerts/albums

i've seen monaco...
did remind me at the europe in concert stage... but then again...the same playlist over and over again...
why not something of Sessions, metamorphoses..

When I was a teen JMJ was the man, but then being a bit fanatical about an artist is the sort of thing a teen would do.
I was growing up and discovering my own music, not really one for the stuff you'd hear on the radio and becoming disillusioned with Rock and Metal, Jarre was a breakthrough that led to all kinds of discoveries.
Although I knew his music seeing the Houston concert on TV was amazing, I just thought the whole thing was stunning and beyond anything I'd ever seen or heard before, very exciting, this level of excitement was matched watching La Defense on the TV.
First time I got to see a gig was at Wembley for the EiC, then saw him again in Manchester and in front of the Eiffel Tower for the same Chronology tour. Although I enjoyed each gig I wasn't blown away by them, I think I was just older and wanted my teenage rose-tinted imagination of a concert to be realised but that would probably be impossible to deliver.
I'm older now, the idea of being fanatical about a musician is silly, I enjoy his music (mostly) and would be interested if there was ever new material, I still have a fantasy that one day I'll hear a proper recording of Supermarkets but won't get upset if nothing happens.
There's such a vast world of fantasic music and there will always be more fantastic music than any single person could hope to hear that dedicating too much time to just the one source risks missing out on the potential of the something else.

@Qube: The "shiny" of JMJ's music has kind of worn off now we're older, hasn't it?

The best thing I find for JMJ's music to sound fresh is to not listen to it for a while, listen to something different and then reappraise at a later date. Mostly it sounds fresh when I do this and can bring back memories and feelings of when I first heard the music. Same goes for other music too, of course

Yes, a break since JMJ said he work to his new album at the saint-lazarre fnac (Paris) the january of ... 2010 !
