Jarre's lyrics

As we all know before Jarre's career as a well-known composer started, he was (amongst other things) earning money by writing lyrics for such stars as Christophe or Patrick Juvet. Some time ago I was a bit interested about it but all what I found were (not translated) French lyrics.

Sooo...have you ever read some of JMJ's lyrics written for other musicians? If yes - what do you think about them? :)

I haven't but I never think much about lyrics. Vocal in music is just a part like drums or bass IMO.

In fact I generally don't concencrate too much on the lyrics (although they've huge importance in some songs), I'm just interested how does Jarre's style of writing (of course just lyrics are too little to have a clear image) look :)

Since I wrote lyrics myself in my old rockbands I listen a lot to what singers from different acts tells us. Unfortunately I've not heard anything of the old stuff from Jarre when it comes to lyrics. I did like some of the stuff that he wrote for Metamorphoses. But somehow I've got a feeling that he express feelings and images best with instrumental music. Just listen to Oxygene 2, Equinoxe 3, Souvenir of China and many many more. The man is a true genius! :D

I think that he once said that he used music expression instead of lyrics, however I think that has changed.

Well, most of those lyrics are french, so I don't understand them. I did quote a few to nico when I was browsing trough them and it made him laugh, so I suppose they are funny somehow, on the other hand, his work as songwriter made him famous and wanted, so I guess he did some good work... :)

[Those lyrics at the LaCage site are not at all complete.......]
