Hi

I was in a musical instuments store and I tested the Roland FantomX6, I had 10 minutes to test it so I didn't look all, I tried the Beam and the systhesis of the sound for the Beam, it was rather cool !
I hope I'll be able to test this machine more and more, I love it
I love the "Sampling" part too, and the USB connexion, and PCMCIA, and the internal memory and many other things !
I love it, maybe because I saw it has JP8000 sounds
Have you tested this machine and what's your review ?

Last time I was sitting behind the machine in musical store was behind Fantom X8. I played a little bit just to test the hammer-action weighted keyboard and compare it with my Keystation Pro-88. The keyboard in X8 is softer and a bit... smaller! And some chords were easier to "set" by my fingers. I played only 2 patches - Grand Piano and JD800 Piano (sounds nice BTW). Several other patches were only to hear the sound (so I played 2 or 3 random notes). The pad on the right side seems to be useful but I felt it a bit strange (I hadn't used such a toy before).
BTW, I realised that I'll need another MIDI keyboard controller with smaller and synth-alike keys because I want to make richer chords in realtime easier and faster. And hitting the same note very fast is a bit difficult on my Keystation, cause there I'm sometimes faster then a key which needs a time to go back to his "initial" state (I hope you know what I mean ). I did it well on Fantom X7 (also in music shop), but not on my Keystation. Soon, I'll buy Evolution MK461C and I'll use it mainly for leads and rich pad chords.

I didn't say that Fantom is bad. Not at all! I believe it's very good and versatile synth workstation. But I was in touch with him very shortly...

Well, If I had money, I'd buy... X8. Because of the keyboard. Fully weighted, but more 'comfortable' fo my fingers (I mean softer) than Keystation's one. And I'd also connect it to the PC via USB and... you know what I'd do it for

But the X6 isn't keyweighted, the X8 is and the X7 ?

The only difference between X7 and X6 is the number of keys. X6 has 61 keys, X7 - 76. Inside they're exactly the same.
There's also Fantom Xa, but this is a light version of X6. Simple LCD, smaller amount of memory, waveforms etc.
